Im all for another chance for Locker.

But lets stop pretending like coaches are the ones who were inaccurate. They just call the plays. Give him one more year.. sure... fine. However draft for the future if the guy is there they want.

Wow....and if anyone else wrote a book long narrative on the present and future state of the Tennessee Titans on this site, without contributing to all the positives and player signings that didn't include the ghost of Titan past, they'd get blogged to death by every poser on this site....

They're many other reasons "why" Munchak and his coaching staff, along with other player personnel did not work out during the last three years that any other coach could ever prove to do any better if given the chance at the time, since outside of two coaches during that time in Pro Football actually proved to be hailed "great."

And "if" Whisenhunt doesn't fair any better, and Jake Locker continues to do what Jake Locker has done (or any other QB for that matter), and McCluster and company are average at best, are we going to write another ten page report on how great the next coach and staff are going to be since they are far away removed from anything resembling the "Oilers" or "Whisenhunt staff?"

Everyone is Nashville better be grateful that Bud Adams picked "of all places" Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee to move what was once a great Oilers franchise that gave many Titan fans some memorable seasons with stemming roots that once planted strong in the Astrodome for over 30 years. Seriously. Your welcome. Coming from a continuous on-going Houstonian fan that is a continuous die-hard franchise Titan fan through and through still.

You're probably going to be ripped to shreds over this post due to how some posters feel about you but I've thought about this as well. How will Titans fans respond if Whiz and co. crash and burn this season? I really don't think it will happen but if it does what course of action will we take? Many fans didn't like Munchak last season but the idea that if he failed his staff would be dismantled did comfort some people. Whiz and co will be here for at least a few seasons so what happens if this regime fails as well? How long before fans start calling for his head? Again, I doubt this happens but it's one of those doomsday scenarios you can't help but think about.

San Diego did not really give up on Brees too early. If you remember Brees lost his job to Doug Flutie during his 2nd yr. The team did poorly and they were drafting high and went for Rivers. Obviously at that point in his career Brees had not shown that he was a franchise QB. Rivers then holds out from camp and this allows Brees to start his 3rd year and he does great. He is a FA and the Chargers franchise tag him. If the Bolts were going to give up on him they would have let him walk. Brees plays great again, but tears his labrum late in the season. The Chargers offered Brees a 50mil contract that was incentive laden because they weren't sure if his shoulder would be healthy. Brees didn't like the contract and hit the FA market. The only choice that the Bolts had was to franchise him again, but they didn't want to with the fears about his shoulder. So the Bolts really didn't give up on Brees.

Their is a huge difference between the 5th pick in the draft and an early 2nd round pick in terms of money and expectations. We drafted Locker early expecting him to be the franchise guy. To date he has not proven that he is that guy. He has 1 yr left to do so. Their is nothing wrong with improving the depth at the QB position by taking a guy in the 2nd round. The goal for Whiz is to find a franchise QB and do it as quickly as possible. Putting all your eggs in the Locker basket is not the most prudent way to go. Some people argue that we shouldn't waste an early pick because we need to put more talent around Locker. The thing is that their isn't a single player in this draft that is going to make Locker a franchise QB. Locker has to do that on his own.

I hope he does and that we have a solid young backup for years to come.

You also must consider that if Locker has a huge year that their is no guarantee that he signs with the Titans because he will be a free agent after this year.

    Anybody see rotoworlds latest mock?

The guy makes a very good point when making our pick.

" A Wilforkian zero-technique nose, Nix is the defensive anchor new Titans DC Ray Horton's 3-4 units have always required, spanning from Casey Hampton to Dan Williams to Phil Taylor. Hampton, Williams, and Taylor were all first-round picks. Nix commands double teams and can threaten the pocket. Due to quarterback woes, Tennessee's best chance to be competitive in Horton and Ken Whisenhunt's first year would be to field a strong defense and run game. Look for the Titans to attack each of those areas with their first two picks"

While I don't like the pick personally, this guy makes some very good points and I wouldn't be surprised to see us go this route. Im thinking it's between one of the top 3 pass rushers, nix and Justin gilbert.

0% chance Carr falls to the second. In fact he will probably be gone before 11.

The only external candidates we considered were former Bills head coaches. Greg Williams was also considered. Personally, I was pulling for Fewell.
