To much stock is put into 40 times. I would take a high 4.4 low 4.5 corner that is smart and knows the position well, can read a Qb over a cb that is 6,1+ and can run a high 4.3 low 4.4

Prime example is Vern, he was extremely smart.

Dennard reminds me of Haden. I think everyone would be extremely happy with a Joe Haden caliber cornerback. Although I hope we don't even take CB round 1.

Hate to break it to you but Joe Haden runs 4.4's, so no sense in bringing him up.

And what do you mean Sherman doesn't get burned? TY Hilton hung 140-yards and 2 TD's on him.

I'm sure he meant combine time, which Haden ran a 4.57

And you are right, he is faster then that. So why put any stock into combine 40's??

I'm not a fan of a Cb at 11 period.

I dont put much stock into 40's, but blazing speed can't be created, you either have it or you dont, and Dennard doesn't have it. Im not trying to say he's a bad CB, he's pretty good actually. But if Im picking players for my team give me the guy with all the goods. Jason McCourty's game in 2008 had plenty of flaws, but once he entered the NFL the following year he looked like an entirely new player. Then of course the the other end of the spectrum in Tommie Campbell, but that's a highly unlikely scenario for Gilbert.

I dont like any of these CB's at 11, but there's 5 guys I do like including Dennard, but lets not act like he's a shut down CB, Gilbert actually could be at some point.

Every corener gets burned at some time or another. Are you really trying to say Sherman isn't the best (or at least one of the best) in the league right now?

Dennard, by all accounts is expected to be a shutdown corner in the NFL. But if it helps settle this debate, Dennard ran an unofficial 4.42 40 yard dash earlier at the combine. Speed can be overrated at times. And as stated earlier, Joe Haden is one of the best corners in the league and ran a 4.57 official time. He later was clocked a MUCH faster time at his pro day.

Gilbert has better measurables, but is a more raw than Dennard, partly because he never played CB before college.

Clowney if we had last years D….Mack for this year's D. I don't think Clowney would fit in our new D very well even though he will probably be a star. Even though its not a question..I really like Donald for our 11th pick!
