They offered him a FO position. He should take it. He will be set for life there.

I guess we will find out what the Preds' real problem was. I hope the team Trotz goes to loves boring defensive hockey!!

I'm sad it didn't work out but I really thought the shortened season was our time to do something. Maybe it's the GM fault we didn't ever get real offensive weapons, not sure. Trotz did a lot for the city and team. Playoff games were such a great atmosphere during the stretch where we consistently made it.

Agree it is time for a change. I hope we can have a more potent offense.

Yeah. We will find out in the next season or two. Keeping someone as terrible as Rich Clune on the NHL roster for two years is entirely Trotz's fault. And Clune would be a mediocre AHL player.

I think GM Poile built that roster around Barry's desires to have a grinding, offense by committee, but defense-first kind of team. Poile gave him just that with Suter, Weber, and Rinne... and the Offensive talent that was acquired, (Radulov and the Kostitsyns) were basically run out of town (not that they weren't A-holes.)

I think Trotz was a big reason why top end free agents don't want to go there. Them not being perennial Cup contenders, and Nashville not being a traditional hockey city hurts even more.

Nashville in the 2000s loved the tenured coaches with boring philosophies.

Predator fans are loud and proud, and they deserve a better product that what they've put out there since the lockout.

It may involve a full house cleaning, but getting rid of BT was the first step in the right direction. I'm willing to give Poile a short leash to see what he does, not chained to BT.

Even if Trotz wins a SC in his next stop.. his time here was well past done. Same with Fisher. I won't be mad about it.

Now, both of my favorite sports franchises get a fresh start. I am happy.

If you have to depend on a once-in-a-decade goalie to save your job.. then you don't deserve to keep it.

Pekka's injury, and The Titans not making the playoffs worked out the best for the franchises, in the long-term, IMO.

Trotzy has worked under Poile for over 30 years. With Poile being the defensive-minded GM he is (and a good one at that), I blame him to giving that influence to Trotz. When Poile was hired as the GM of the Caps, he basically turned their crappy defense into one of the tops in the league, but their forwards all sucked, which is why they never won a cup in the 15 years that he was GM of that team.

Now Poile is coming up on 15 years with the Preds. Same results. He needs to go too.
