    A workout fan, huh?

Welcome to evaluating NFL prospects... you'll learn those workouts mean very little soon.

Don't act like Gilbert wasn't a great player in college.

I was impressed with Gilbert's athleticism on tape but I really didn't see what all the buzz was about. I saw a great athlete who hasn't mastered the nuances of the position. Dennard looked like a complete CB. My only question on him was short area quickness.

Gilbert's attitude and reliance on athleticism is scary. If he commits to being a pro, he'll be great.

The thing that scares me about Dennard is that he was behind such a good defense.

Yeah that's why the teams have a combine to waste time. :disappointed:

Revis ran on his pro day. He ran a 4.38 40, had a 38 inch vertical and ran a totally sick 6.58 cone. But you would have passed on that and drafted a guy with a 4.58 40 and a 7.28 cone right?

Champ bailey another Cb prospect with a great workout. Hand timed at 4.28 in the 40.

I expect you to say dumb things what is shocking is that there is always some dolt giving you a high 5 for the stupidity.

It's about the cone times. Richard Sherman ran a very mediocre 40 time but his 6.82 cone time was impressive for a 6'3 CB. Then he did better than that on his pro day and ran a 6.72. That was more important than a mediocre 40 time.

But it was his explosively powerful legs that should have gained more notice. His 38 inch vertical at the combine and his sick 11 foot broad jump on his pro day set him apart. There is no Wr who can out jump him.

Enter Pierre Desir a Cb prospect out of a small Canadian school. A taller Cb at 6'1 with explosive leaping ability, great speed and agility.
First rd athlete who is expected to be a mid rd pick. This could be the next Richard Sherman of this draft.

This is a tough debate for me. I view Gilbert as a guy that has the cliche Patrick Peterson potential. He's got the speed, the return ability, the athletic ability, the big question is can he learn the in-and-outs of the CB game.

Then Dennard reminds me of a slightly bigger Verner. He's not the greatest athlete, but an amazing football player. He's a good press corner and great in the zone. He knows how to use his body, always in the right spot, smart, intuitive, and just a good football player. If you could combine Dennards ability into Gilberts athleticism you'd have one of the best CBs of all time.

Gilbert has the ability to be great, he needs work though.
Dennard has the ability to be a pro-bowler, little work needed.

The biggest question for me when deciding the #1 CB is 'do you think Gilbert can reach his full potential' - if that answers "yes", than go with Gilbert. I like both the CBs and believe both will make names for themselves in the league.

Good assessment. The thing is that Peterson wasn't just a phenomenal athlete with freakish size, he was also already a very polished corner in college and showed he could play man, zone, off, press and everything in between. I'll have to watch more tape on Gilbert but I'm just not sold on the kid yet.

I said PP potential, he's nowhere near PPs level when he was coming out. However, Gilbert has all the tools that someday he could be on PPs level, someday.

Gilbert had 12 ints and 27 PD in his career at Ok St. so i think he has proven he is a quality first rd CB prospect. Gilbert played against more prolific passing games in the big 12 vs what Dennard faced playing in the big ten. Wrs like dorial-Green Beckum and Goodley will be first rd picks when they come out.

And the fact he retuned almost 6% of his kickoffs for TDs can hardly be called a negative. He took 6 of 102 kickoffs the distance that is rare!
