Casey often struggled against the run so, IMO, would not be productive as a space-eating NT in a traditional 3-4.

The important thing to remember here that Horton isn't going to run that. IMO, if he doesn't utilize Casey's strengths, he's not going to see much success here.

Can't argue with that, I'm hoping this staff will gameplan around our players strengths rather than making them fit into a specific scheme

Here's one he kinda compares to

Dallas Cowboys NT - Jay Ratliff 6-4 293
i know its old but for a while there Jay was the man and he was undersized

Brown could play MIKE linebacker and play the same role as Daryl Washington in arizona defense give ayers first shot to play Joker or Rush linebacker draft Barr or Mack to play Sam or Rush if ayers doesnt work out and just add the TED backer/ the thumper in the middle in free agency Daryl Smith, Donald Butler, Brandon Spikes? in that order (i like DB more but he would be more expensive because of age)

Whiz already said that we weren't going to run a 2 gap type of 3-4. It would be a 1 gap system.

If you can't find a way to use Casey then you need to trade him. I am pretty sure he would draw some trade interest.

No way you trade Casey. You simply find a way for the guy to be as productive as he was this past season. Shouldn't be that hard.

First of all. This is a joke right?

Second of all, Casey would EXCELL at a one gap system. He's a penetrating DT. Exactly what the one gap calls for.

Luckily, he runs a hybrid 3-4 and not a true 3-4 (unless that changed last year) so they will find a spot for Casey.

Casey enjoys rushing the QB. He will play DE in 3-4 base. this NT talk is nonsense.
He will play DE and be as devasting as usual

No joke...Whiz in one of his early interviews said we would not be a 2 gap 3-4 team...if you don't think Casey fits your system then the smart thing to do is to trade him rather than misuse him.

Personally I think Casey will hold up just fine as a 3-4 DE. He will slide inside and be a DT when we go with a 4 man front and he will play NT some when it is a passing down and we want to show a 3-4.
