I hated HS too and like you was not picked on. But loved university. It is funny that you mention prison. I later learned that public education and prison are designed to have a lot in common. Attendance is taken several times a day, a bell tells you when to stand up and when to sit down, you cannot leave until a certain time, you need to ask to go to the restroom.

Public education came out of the industrial revolution. Previously children would stay with their parent's and learn the family trade or work the family land. The industrial revolution saw a large number of parents leaving their children through the day to go to work. Kids were left alone and got into trouble. So public education was created to keep kids incarcerated through the day while their parent's were at work. Education came second.

I can go further into how today in public education actual is not the top priority but we will have to move the conversation to a Taboo thread.

I REALLY miss my childhood. Assaulting people and the only consequence was ISS or suspension... those were the days, my friend.

 

It also costs the state about the same to educate each kid as it does to house a prisoner.

Wrong, actually. It's cheaper to send someone to college than prison.

One year of prison costs more than one year at Princeton.

Only a ***** would call the police after getting their ass whipped in a legitimate fight.

I think there should be no charges in fights that are entered into willingly by two people.
