I'm hoping for a 1st or 2nd round QB. Signing Schaub for a cheaper (than Fitz) contract would be nice. Cut Fitz. We then run with: draftee, Schaub, Locker, and Tyler Wilson. Plenty of competition there.

Unlike most teams, we dont draft QBs as often as others truly TRYING to find that stud again. Drafting VY was the first BIG problem. When you WHIFFF on a QB that bad and for years still believe you picked a star, YEARS and YEARS of time is wasted. How many teams messed up by not drafting Aaron Rodgers INCLUDING the Titans?

Right now, I don't believe Locker is as bad as VY was of a pick. But Locker's problems are different as in he can't stay healthy to save his life. How can QBs like Peyton and Favre play 15+ seasons without missing even ONE game. Yet Locker has NEVER played a whole season?

It's also true that QBs can shine with some teams and be a bust on others. It depends on many factors. VY was a bust with every team, but it was because of his illiteracy. Even if we draft a QB who was a whiz in college does not mean he is going to a whiz in the NFL. You do the best evaluating you can and then hope you have a QB coach that can take the kid to the next level. Do we have a coach that can do that? If we don't, then don't expect to have a Rogers or a Wilson, etc.

Exactly! Schaub had a bad year, it happens, but he is more consistent than anyone on our current roaster and cheaper than Cutler. I like the idea of 4 QB's slugging it out, it should add some fire to the offense and show true effort from ownership

Consistently throwing picks :/ It is hard for me to see how Schaub is any better than fits

I love the thread RT, you always put a lot of thought into your subjects. Of the guys listed I'd also take Schaub. He has the arm, pocket awareness and the experience. And not to mention he will most definitely not command top QB money like Cutler will. I agree with RSB that Cutler is the best of the bunch from a pure play standpoint but he is not worth that kind of money.

I made the case for Schaub shortly after Kubiak was fired because I think that he has a lot of positives that he can bring to our QB situation. I expect him to be cut, I really feel like he got a raw deal in houston this past year. He could do no wrong and once things started collapsing everyone turned on him. He has a proven track record of being a true passing QB, great accuracy, good arm strength and has lead a winning offense before. Cut Fitz asap then go after Schaub asap also.

All of the other guys on the list are ok but I don't see Romo getting canned any time soon, Cutler will get overpaid, McCown and Henne are not much better than what we have in Fitz. Schaub makes the most sense if he gets cut like he's expected to be.

I see what you're saying but Schaub is much better than Fitz.

I would hope our rookie would win out, similiar to what Russell Wilson did when he battled Tavaris Jackson & Matt Flynn.

I also like the idea of QBs fighting for a job is long as we get some talented guys out there. When the Chiefs were having QB battles two years ago with Kyle Orton & Matt Cassel. Who cares who wins? They both were terrible!! I love the idea of drafting a young prospect in this years draft like in the 1st or 2nd round and have him battle Locker.

I was very intrigued by McCown about 2 weeks ago, then I did my homework, and yea guys, dont fall for Josh McCown, he's nothing worth getting excited about.

As for Cutler's price tag, what do you consider expensive? I'm far from a fan of his, but its hard to argue with his production. I'd be ok with us shelling out $16M a year on him. He's borderline franchise QB, those guys get over a million bucks a game.
