trade for cousins, really? rumor has it they want a 1st or 2nd for him...

F' that, did people not learn that you don't trade and/or pickup non-tested QBs and pay them mad money (ala the failed Matt Flynn and Cassel fiascoes)....

Well that's why I said if they get desperate and ask for maybe a future 3rd or something then maybe...

I am actually ok with cutler even though he does have his downside he can play and has experience. The rest on that last suck and hope they never show up, rather take my chances in the draft. Try to sign cutler for 2 or 3 years and draft a qb to sit for a year or two. Just my 2 cents.

    I'm hoping we pursue Allen.

    QB/OT Rds 1/2
    RB Rd 4
    cut Wimbley/Stewart/CJ
    sign Allen

    Ta-dah!

They'll definitely be hopeful of 2nd rounder, that was the whole plan wasn't it? For them to invest in a QB to flip in 2 years? I hear people here talk about us taking that approach and always drafting a middle of the pack QB to try and sell off as a legit starter. Its a great plan if it works.

Ryan Mallett is the other name that often pops up. He's in a similar position as Cousins. Might be worth keeping, might be better trading for a higher pick.

I'd like for us to jump into the Jay Cutler race (yes I agree he's a douche, but we're not winning with nice guys now are we?). Its doubtful he even becomes available, Bears say they like him as their franchise QB, but you never know.

Plan B for our QB dilemma is we target one of those 2 guys mentioned above, but as you pointed out, thats been a plan for disaster when you look at Kevin Kolb, Matt Schuabs and Matt Cassel's situations. And not having a 3rd round pick this draft we'll want to keep our 2nd.

Ultimately Im going to agree with you and say, we better not trade for Cousins.

I honestly think the reason we just signed Wilson was because they had internal talks about drafting a QB in the upcoming draft, but realized if they weren't going to use a 1st rounder on a QB, and use a later pick, you could just sign Wilson as the developmental QB you were planning on drafting and save the pick to fill a different need.

I know this isn't a draft thread, but while on the subject, I think this year would be the year to trade down and try to get an extra pick or two. Like if we end up at 10 again where we're currently slotted, there might be a team in the 20's that would give up their 2nd and/or 3rd to move up. That way we recover the 3rd we lost by trading up to get Hunter, and possibly have 2, 2nd round picks. Maybe it could look something like:
    1st - CJ Mosley
    2nd - Tiny Richardson
    2nd - Eric Ebron
    3rd - Aaron Donald
