Umm why would we cut Locker? His salary is rather low and hes gotten better every week since 2011.

What was his issue his rookie year? accuracy right... Fixed that.

In 2012 what was his issue? Pocket awarness, yea? Well he fixed that.

All thats really wrong with him is he takes stupid shots. Im sure he'll have that figured out too by next season.

Jake Locker should be allowed to play out his contract under a coach that has a clue. IMO it would be a mistake to let him go. Hes still getting better.

Cutting Locker this year would be asinine and reactionary, of course many of our fans love the idea.

They are not going to cut Locker this year. No one has ever reported they were. They simply are not going to exercise the 13 million dollar club option for 2015. Why would they? They could sign him to a new contract next year. Not exercising the option has ZERO to do with Locker's future with the Titans.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tommy Smith's comments. The guy is exactly what everybody says he is, a smart business man.

You weren't reading in between the lines. "Let's see if we can win three in a row" translates to "Munchak is most definitely on the hot seat." He clearly stated we didn't meet expectations. "CJ isn't being used in the right ways" to me translates to "CJ isn't a right fit for the Titans."

Smith's comments just confirmed every report we've heard about big changes coming. He knows how to do things the right way, and that is to let Munchak play out the season. If we do win out, it's not a guarantee that Munchak stays. The glaring stat that I think will have to be considered is our 1-10 record in the last 11 vs the AFC South.

Munchak deserves to be treated with respect. 30 years with an organization earns that.

I'd cut him if it was up to me. But let's not make this all about him, it's more about Munch. If we keep Locker I say we'll keep Munch another season ...

Anyone suggesting the Titans won't keep Locker has no idea what's going on. Clearly he will be back in 2014. He may not be the starter, but he'll be on the roster. Releasing him makes zero sense.

Might as well merge this into the ongoing Munch thread cause there is definitely nothing new here.

A smart business man would not cut our the team's sole marketable player. Note that while I realize most of our fan base isn't in love with CJ, his whole "NFL's fastest man" angle definitely has some appeal on the national stage. The man raced a cheetah for no other reason than he's known to be the fastest man in the league. While I know the whole thing was kind of a big joke i'll ask this, What other Titans player have you seen appear in anything nationally that wasn't a Titans game? Exactly.

Smith went out of his way to back CJ up, he probably blames Loggains for failing to use him correctly. CJ has not played as badly as some of our fan base would have you believe given the circumstances and I think Smith recognizes that. If you were to look at the few highlights our team has had on offense you probably only see Wright, CJ, and Hunter. No way CJ gets cut, he may be asked to restructure and honestly he should because he is currently overpaid.

I feel you are in denial. CJ is slightly marketable. And slightly productive on the field with this team.

I think Tommy Boy (great nickname for him btw) Is right in that CJ can be used better. But not in our power run game we operate. And the bottom line is that CJ doesn't want to play second fiddle, so it's going to be tough to say hey buddy were going to go get a more consistent back and keep you as our change of pace guy. You can't go backwards and start over. CJ will want to try to show another team that he can play 20+ snaps a game and get it done in the right run system. I'm sure the Rams or Colts would love to have a go at it, and let them. In the end though, I believe CJ will have to come to terms that he is going to be sharing the load with his fresh team.
