I think it was probably the right call but no way they could actually tell. The refs just didn't want the game to end on a placing of the ball, UT fans should have expected this, unless they are bama or some other power the calls are not going their way. By ruling the way they did the refs sort of took a mulligan and put the game back into the players hands, of course it was a gut punch to UT and they have to learn that nothing will be given, they must develop a killer instinct and play to win rather than hoping the other team doesn't make a play....sort of like the titans. funny but not it a good way.

 

Butch will be out the door at the end of 2015, 2016 at the latest.

The guy can recruit no doubt but that won't take you far past 9 wins if you can't develop the talent or coach it.

The coaching this year has been down right awful sometimes.

This is what you get when you hire a hype guy that road Brian Kelly's players to mild success at two jobs.

Of course I've heard a lot of fans say that 9 wins should be the expectation at Tennessee and that they will never if rarely reach the level of success we grew accustomed to in the 90's and very early 00's. That is sad.


Huge red flag for Tennessee fans was when BJ brought in John Jancek with him... are you ****ing kidding me?

 

Then... find a coach in the modern era that has gone on to win a national title when they didn't win one within their first few years at a job.

Mack Brown is all I got. Took him 7 to get there and a freak athlete/mild retard at QB to win it.

You can say Phillip Fulmer and Bobby Bowden too but that was a different time. CFB was a different beast. Fulmer lucked into ours and underachieved for most of his time at Tennessee.

Basically if your guy doesn't show that flash and get it done early you better get him out the door or you will be sitting there looking stupid 7 and 8 years later with a bunch of good seasons but no trophies to show for it.

I give kudos to Auburn for blowing Gene out the door. They saw the arms race in this conference and understood he wasn't going to EVER put Auburn in that elite tier so they went out and got a guy who has a team that won 3 games last year a win away from the SEC championship game. That is to be admired and respected.

You want to be elite in this league you better get an elite coach.

Not a 9 win hype guy that rode someone else's success his entire career so far.

I'm done. Like I said, not seeing a game in person until this team puts a good product on the field. Last night and the past month has been a joke to watch.
