Of course you do. Most people aside from Titan fans think that. We know the truth though (Rams fans will come around slowly but surely). He was an above-average coach at one point but the game passed him by long ago. His teams will still show flashes every now and again but will inevitably end up on the outside looking in or one-and-done.

We FINALLY got rid of him only to hire of his cronies. Not surprisingly, we've watched the exact same type of "Fisher-esque" season play out these past 3 years.

There's more to building a winning football team than coaching. That's why I said that I thought Fisher's teams usually punched above their weight. For better or worse, though, HCs usually end up taking the fall.

I thought the same thing about the Broncos firing Shanahan in favor of.....Josh McDaniel? I can understand them not being happy with the results they were getting with Shanny. But a coach can only play with the hand he's dealt.

Look at Andy Reid. There's a reason it took about 5 minutes for another team to grab him when the Eagles fired him. That doesn't necessarily mean it was the wrong call for the Eagles. And, to their credit, they did hang onto him for a long time. But I'm not surprised he's having the success he is in KC. He's a damned good coach. But it also matters that he has some different personnel than Romeo had.

Jeff Fisher.... 16.5 years on the job... 1 SB appearance (loss)... 6 playoff appearances... 11 seasons at or below .500. That should pretty much tell you all you need to know. I see your point but you're basically just spouting the same mess we heard from Fisher apologists year after year after year. There's a reason he has very few supporters left among Titan fans. He was given EVERY opportunity to build a championship team. He was given all the control a HC could dream of.

As for Reid, IMO he's a better coach than Fisher. And I've always felt that way. You look at his results versus Fisher's and you see a lot more consistently competitive teams and a lot more playoff appearances. Even currently he's taken the worst team in the league and turned them into the #1 team in the league (at least record-wise) in one season. Meanwhile the guru Jeff's Rams finished below .500 last year and surprise surprise they are sitting below .500 now.

He's average at best. For the life of me I can't understand the boner the media and fans around the league have for the guy. I just don't understand how he's managed to maintain this reputation. He's made ZERO post-season noise in over a decade.

Firing Fisher was without a doubt the right move. Bringing in Munchak was stupid. Bringing anyone in from within the organization was stupid. It should have been a full rebuild.

This organization needs to understand the concept of Hiring from outside the company.

The problem is that there aren't a whole lot of really good coaches out there -- particularly ones who have proven themselves. To be sure, if you figure out you have one of the bad ones, then get rid of him. But if a coach has proven their mettle, then sometimes the real answer lies elsewhere.

I think the Steelers have this figured out better than other franchises. They held on to Cowher through some pretty thin seasons when most clubs probably would've fired him. And it proved to be the right decision.

Granted, Fisher did have a very long tenure with the Oilers/Titans. So it's not as if they canned him after a couple of subpar seasons. I get that. But sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

The offensive playcalling has been infuriating all season IMO. One thing I realized last night, when was the last time we ran a pitch/sweep? I'm not sure I've seen one all year, can't remember last year. Maybe I've missed them, but I can't remember the last time, and I watch every damn game.

Again, this is the line of thinking we heard over and over and over again from his apologists. But IMO, at a certain point, you simply must make a change. Sure "top, proven" HCs are rarely available. But sometimes you just have to take a shot. Do you stick with the perennial .500 coach who has "proven his mettle" or do you take a shot on an "unproven" guy? Me, I'd rather take the shot. You might end up getting a Harbaugh or a Payton. Unfortunately for us we went with a Fisher lackey, a POSITION coach at that. So not too awfully surprising that the culture and end results have changed very little from the Fisher days.
