    Leonard vs Duran 1

    Barrera vs Mckinney

    Barrera vs Morales 1

    Pacquiao vs Morales 1

    Pacquiao vs Morales 2

    Gatti vs ward 1

I could go on and on. The classic fights between Zale and Graciano.

I would rather watch any of those fights over any MMA fight.

I like MMA as a part time diversion but i am absolutely passionate about boxing and for the decade of 2000-2010 it was never better. .

From a technique point of view you can't compare boxing to mma.

The generation of MMA fighters that are at the top now are true athletes training in wrestling, jui jitsu, kickboxing and boxing. Cardio has to be at a much higher level than a boxers.

There are many mma fighters who would not be embarrassed in a boxing match against a top boxer in their weight class but not a single pro boxer would survive around against a top level MMA fighter.

Some epic fights there man. Sadly though politics and corruption deprived us of many more great boxing fights.

One thing I love about MMA is the best want to fight each other and the forum to do that is in the UFC. Guys in the UFC don't duck fights and as fans we are never deprived of seeing the best matchups.

Yeah. That is one of the reasons that never really got into boxing. Those guys run thru like 40 cans, then they get the pay per view fights. The top UFC guys are constantly fighting each other and there are plenty of quality fights/fighers on television.

As passionate as i am about boxing there are issues that taint the sport. Like why would there ever be a hand wrap controversy? The Billy Collins tragedy in the 80s only served to get a fighter and trainer banned from the sport. Perhaps if Collins and his dad had won some of those law suits things would have changed.

This is a sport where men have been killed and permanently damaged in the ring so why are loaded hand wraps even an issue? Everybody knows that Margarito had loaded wraps against Cotto and i believe Felix Trinidad used them in many of his biggest fights.

Then there are the bogus decisions and the fact a fighter can lose 2 minutes and 30 seconds of a round, have a rally the last 30 seconds and convince the judges he owned that round?

Look at rd 6 of Pacquiao vs Morales 1, Pacquiao dominated the first 2 minutes causing Jim Lampley to say that it seemed as if if Morales had taken the rd off. Then Morales rallies and Lampley is acting as of he owned the round.

    I disagree.

MMA is a much slower pace, and then there's the whole "laying around" on the ground that seems to happen 90% of the fight. And I know, they're actually using energy while there, but not the same.

And they only go 3 rds. Boxers have to go for 10. Huge difference.

The Barrera vs Mckinney fight should put this debate to rest. Watch it on youtube. Barrera a little younger and better but Mckinney showing the true heart of a champion.

Then Mckinney in his fight with Junior Jones showing the same heart in coming off the canvas for a knockout victory.

In boxing there is more ebb and flow. A guy gets off the deck to win. In MMA once a guy is at a significant disadvantage they have to stop the fight to prevent injury.
