I've cut enough tape to see exactly what our offense is doing this year. This offense is absurdly simple.

I'm not making this a poll, but if would like to hear people's opinions on our play calling, structure, style... What we can improve on as well as do we think this is just the first step or will locker be getting his 3rd OC in as many years?

    My thoughts:

I like Loggains. He's a good coach and he's created an offense where locker does succeed. However I think the guy has severely under achieved in trying to be creative.

This may be only the first building block of his offense and he's installing it slow... But I wish whatever it was, it got moving faster.

My primary complaints are lack of Play action, obviousness of certain run formations (full house anybody?) and the sheer simplicity of offense.

I think he's probably our OC for at least next year as long as we don't completely tank, and I really hope he shows some growth as well. We need it.

I'd really like to see more runs to the outside, our running game is insanely simple. I would like to see more screens, and maybe some more option plays.

I like what I see in the passing game, however, I'd like to see more 3 wr sets. I'd like to see Wright go out long more often and I'd especially like to see Hunter out there more often. I like what I see from Walker.

Overall, I am slightly disappointed with what we have seen so far. I think Britt being a complete bust has factored into it. They probably do not trust Hunter with his routes so far and Williams does not have that skill set. I expected Britt to be a huge factor this year, so its hard to tell.

I'm not really satisfied, mainly because of the running game. I am not fan of CJ, but they really need him to stretch the defense out laterally possibly open up some inside running lanes for option plays or something in the middle for Walker or the guy in the slot. We have speed and size, so we have no reason for our offense to be so 'small'. It is hard to pin this all on Loggains, as I think Mathews is partly to blame.

I give the offense so far a C+. We do some things great, Locker was put in a prime system to succeed, but I feel he can take more now. Overall, the offense is just FAR to simple for the talent we have. We should be putting up an easy high 20s or 30 points a game.

It's definitely predictable based on formation and tendency.

We run right a lot(especially short-yardage) dispute Warmack and Stewart being below-average. If Battle is in the game I'd say 9/10 times it's a run play. Kendall Wright on the outside means it's a screen.

Our formations give everything away. Shotgun is a passing play. Yeah, I know shotgun is typically a passing formation for every offense, but we haven't even tried to run out of it at all. Locker under center means it's a run.

Everything we heard about Loggains throughout his tenure here was positive. The Bears wanted him to be their passing game coordinator(whatever that is) and we blocked to move because we saw potential in him, yaddah yaddah yaddah. It's time to put up or shut up though.

Also, didn't we hear they were adding pistol to the offense throughout the offseason? I've seen *one* pistol formation all season and it was in either week one or week two.

    Lame.

Ill try to find the article later, but outside runs are being called, CJ just bounces it back inside and takes it to the inside, so a lot of that is on CJ but outside runs are being called.

Overall I cant really complain about Loggains too much. His offense has kept us in most games.I also remember that this is his first year, and realize that he can (and will) improve

I hear so many times people saying "but we are so talented", and I am not seeing it other than on paper. Just a bunch of homers (i am/was one too) who think our team is better than it is. We have a couple #2 WR's, our backs confidence has been shaken, Our line is horrible, which is going to hamper the run game as well as the pass game.

Now if we lived up to our potential, then thats when we will be a talented offense. However as of now, its potential, not "an talented team being held back by the OC"

Loggains has yet to be an OC for a year, yet has kept this team in most games and I still dont think we have lost any games due to playcalling on offense.

I'd agree. It's pretty simple and at times predictable, but Locker is thriving so it's hard to HATE it.

I think the biggest thing is that Loggain's stays as an OC for next year - to many times we see teams pull the trigger and new QB's (by new i mean rookies) and they need to learn a system every year - i could only imagine how difficult that is.

The better QB's usually are with an OC for a long time - i know you could bring in the well he's OC cause the QB is good but its also possibly vice versa.

back to the main point - if Locker and Loggains can improve on what they've done so far this year i think they could be a productive tandem. I really think a new OC next year would hinder Locker's growth - and essentially the teams.

Our D is stout - now let Locker grow....i mean Sam Bradford before he got hurt as been given an eternity in STL - albeit he is owed more money than we are all collectively worth - they are still slow to the pull the plug on him (not to mention other QB's who are far worse who have been given a much longer string than jake)

I really would love to see more play action passes thrown in to the offense. I know we need to set up the run but I think cj is respected enough around the league atleast for the d to bite on play action giving locker a chance to make a good play!

He put Reynaud out as a receiver......REYNAUD...when we have Hunter, Campbell, Williams. We might as well have lined Bironas up out there.

I am unconvinced he has the creativity to allow us to win in this league. I did not say compete...I said win. Teams with really good OCs win....not just compete.
