Despite any missed games or the fact that Walker is clearly the superior blocker and let's look at the raw receiving numbers.

    Jared Cook
    Average annual compensation-7.022M
    22 catches
    311 yards
    2 TDs
    14 first downs
    1 fumble
    1 lost fumble

    Delanie Walker
    Average annual compensation-$4.3M
    20 catches
    185 yards
    2 Tds
    9 first downs
    1 fumble
    0 fumbles lost

I think we made the right decision.

o_O Walker has done nothing to improve our run game. It's just as bad as it was with Cook. Given two TE's who both have no impact on the run game, I'd pick the one who averages 14 yards per catch. If you want to argue that we couldn't afford the extra 3M that's fine, but to say that Walker has made a big difference compared to Cook is way off, imo.

It saved 3M - that's the only improvement so far. Cook has a higher YPC, that's it. Both TEs has been "hurt" by unstable QB performances.

It is frustrating when you have a running game that sucks and 2 TEs who are supposed to be real good blockers in Walker and Stevens. Despite that Walker is a superior blocker and always will be.

Still you have to look at consistency and Walker has been more consistent. 45% of Cook's yardage came in one game, the first game. Since the first game he has averaged 3 catches a game and 11 yards a catch. Walker's best game only accounts for 26% of his total yardage.

Also keep in mind that Cook is on pace to have his best season ever but how long will that last?

Since week one Cook has averaged 3 catches for 34 yards a game. Anybody impressed with that?

    Since week one..

    Cook 15-170

    Walker 17-145

I'm happy with Walker. What sets him apart from Cook is his physicality and toughness. Cook was soft as a tissue and would easily lose focus. It seems he's continued his disappearing act in STL.

Walker brings leadership and playoff experience. That is worth something.

Cook should not even be considered a TE. He should never have his hand in the dirt and be expected to block. He is a BIG WR. If you use him otherwise then it is a mistake.

For the price I am happy with Walker although he has whiffed on several blocks that have resulted in CJ getting nailed in the backfield and also has dropped a few passes. I'm expecting him to improve as he gets more comfortable with the new system and builds chemistry with the QBs.

As of right now being that we cant run the ball and Britt is struggling. Cook would be a much bigger asset than Walker.
