Our problem starts with Fitz, Locker was starting to spread the wealth.

I wouldn't say he is the least athletic, especially when you consider his size. We need a receiver to break a tackle every once in a while and he can do that. Hunter broke a tackle on Sunday, which was very nice to see especially considering how lanky he is. We should not hope or wish for ANYONE on this team to be MIA! It is never a good thing to be MIA on an NFL team especially with a decent contract. We would miss Stevens if he were gone and he might be if the only reason we keep him around is to block.

It's just my thing to hate on Craig Stevens.

It's not like I hate the guy, and I'm sure he is a great locker room guy and hard worker.

But I hate the pick. I hate the large extension. And I hate the philosophy we've used to justify spending so much (not just $ but draft pick) for a blocking TE.

But what I hate most of all is people that act like he is some amazing receiving TE because he's made two good catches in 4 years.

He's the least athletic of our guys, so he's the last player we should be trying to feed the ball too even if he is a reliable receiver, he's still at best the 7th guy we look for.

The guy we need getting more balls is Wright, he's been money since week-1.

I respect that, but I also believe he has earned more opportunities in the passing game.

What i'm surprised is the lack of TE involvement even bringing Walker in. I like to see him touch the ball a few more times a game. He was brought here because of his playmaking ability. There is no reason why you cant spread the offense out with Wright,Washington,Hunter,CJ and Walker. Loggains creativity is deplorable which i wont even get into. Munch brought back Henshaw which some of you will remember was the TE coach when TN had so much success from "97-05." Wycheck was a machine during that span and Henshaw had a big role in that. I'm not saying Walker is on the same playing field as Wycheck but Walker can make plays as well as Stevens if hes givin the chance. I remember in 05 where Kinney and Troupe each caught over 50 passes while scaife added another 30. Christ, the running game is awful so you might as well try putting Walker and Stevens on the field at the same time with some WR's. Make the Defense think a bit Loggains instead of running the same formations.

And to answer the orignal question or lack of TE stats are mostly due to the fact that we waste downs by giving the ball to CJ and go 3 wide in most passing situations. The lack of two TE sets decreases Craig Stevens' and Taylor Thompson's opportunities to see the field which kills their productivity.

Walker however is the 3rd most targeted receiver on the team and has the 3rd most receptions and yards as well. He is also tied for first on the team with receiving TD's so the problem isn't spreading the ball to TE's more often as it is getting the ball into the proper field position to use more two/three TE sets effectively.

I agree about Wright, but screw the depth chart! Kenny Britt is our "most athletic" and has the "highest ceiling" on paper. I'll take 6 yard completions to Stevens all day over 20 yard drops by Britt. When you're struggling for completions, go with your reliable guys!

Hence the reason we are throwing mostly to Washington, Wright, and Walker.

Stevens best role would be the second TE in two TE sets that can sneak into the flat for an easy 4-5 yard completion while Walker, Wright, and Washington take the defensive attention. He is not a guy you can design an offense around but as a 3-4 read he isn't terrible.
