I think it goes somewhat on the coach but the coach can't go out there and make plays for him. He needs to be able to do that on his own instinctively at this level.

Anything is possible. But it might be more of a wrong assessment from the scouts. That's when I heard the "he's ready to step in and play at a high level" talk — right when he was drafted. But that did come from Munch and Webster, I believe.

No. I don't think he has the balls to fire Bruce.

But I think TJ has a point in that Munch shares in the blame for the OL. Still, the head coach shouldn't have to get so deeply involved with a position group in the first place. I know Munch is a HoF OLman. But so is Bruce. He should be able to handle that group on his own.

Honestly, I'm afraid we're stuck with Bruce as long as Munch is the HC.

If the OL doesn't begin to perform better, it won't matter because Bud will clean house.

I don't think that Munch will fire Bruce. At this point it's ride or die with the group he has in place. If we don't make the playoffs they're all gone.

Our OL is just flat-out terrible. They can barely keep the D out of the backfield much less get second level blocking. All the time that CJ was at his best you'd always see guys like Mawae, Roos, Stewart and even Amano leading him 5-10 yards down the field. Now we can't keep LBs and DL out of the backfield. Even on passing plays the protection just isn't there. We were so damn good in 08 with an immobile KFC because he stayed clean and had great protection. I am seeing none of that today.

They didn't look as horrible with Jake out there because he can escape the pocket and make sh!+ happen with his feet. But now with #4 out there they are more exposed than ever. You can only blame Matthews so much on this when the physical effort and ability just isn't there from the players. Levitre was highly rated as the best OL on the market and I see nothing to back that up. He looks like a weak and average OL out there. I understand that it does take some time to gel with guys on a new OL but I see no progress out of any of them.

I think it's more coincidental that Matthews came in as the talent on the OL dropped off. Amano at C was a terrible move, last years players were pathetic. And this year neither Roos or Stewart are the same dominant Ts they used to be. Levitre appears to be overrated, Turner was the cheaper yet wrong alternative to Velasco and Chance is a rookie playing next to the weakest link in Turner. Jake had this OL looking ok but without him they are what they are, below average.

    Are y'all effing kidding?

We've got top talent- there is absolutely no doubt. Warmack is a freak who has delivered championship driven performances in college. Good coaching would have him dominating right now. Levitre HAS performed at pro-bowl levels. It is ALL on Matthews.

It's going to be all on Munchak if it doesn't get fixed. And let's be fair to Munchak. He shouldn't have to step in and fix the OL mess. He DOES need to fix his coaching mess.

Meant Levitre. Fixed the post- my bad. Turner IS the problem but I do feel good coaching would have Schwenke adequately prepared to replace.

You get the coaches film now. Take a few moments and watch Turner get absolutely manhandled REPEATEDLY. He's a friggin' vet and doesn't need a coach to teach him technique. He has to earn his money. Same with Levitre. These are guys are blowing one-on-one play.

When was Turner in the Pro Bowl? The guy isn't #1 material.

On Warmack, I think you can legitimately point to coaching for not having him where he needs to be as far as missing assignments and playing with poor technique. But coaching can't trump game experience for a rookie and he's faced some tough DLs so far this season.
