I said the same thing in another thread yesterday. I'm more worried about how this impacts FO's ability to properly evaluate him than I am the impact on this particular season. I'm no doctor but this injury sounds like the type that could linger and/or suffer setbacks. So in a sense this could be yet another "lost season" for Jake and his development.

Did he show enough through 3.5 games to prove that he's our franchise guy? Some might say yes but I say that's too small of a sample size. And even if he comes back for 3-5 games and plays poorly he's got the built-in excuse of "well, he's coming off an injury/he's rusty" (not saying it's not a legitimate excuse).

I was really looking forward to seeing Jake play a full 16 games and show us once and for all whether or not he's the guy. Now, it's looking like we could possibly be heading into his 4th season and still not know. Sucks.

I also recall Neil O'Donnell Billy Volek and Kerry Collins putting the Titans on their back and keeping their season alive. IMO Fitz > all those guys.

What sucks is we have 3 really tough games in a row here. 2 of which are against defenses that can make even top-notch QBs look silly. So if Fitz comes out and doesn't do well against them people are going to be endlessly whining about how awful he is. Even though Locker may not have faired much better.

I'm just really concerned about Locker's ability now. His hip is really crucial to a QB's throwing technique. I'm worried this sets him back or messes with his confidence.

It will be a true test of a franchise/top of the line QB to be able to come back and continue where he left off or even better.

Manning had a very scary procedure and was out for over a year and then came back and dominated. That is what I'm hoping for Locker. It is just so sad to see him build that chemistry with our WRs and then have him go down like that. BAH! So aggravated

This is a legit question that needs to be addressed.

We have a QB who's 7-8 as a starter, injury prone, but on the rise putting up a 99 passer rating so far in 2013.

Is that good enough to move forward with?

Knowing Jake, I say for him it is enough.

I'm not too worried if he's only out 4 weeks because I think we still lose to San Fran and Seattle even with Locker. The KC game we still have a good chance to win. I'm not as down on San Fran as some people are. They are still a very dangerous team. Boldin can make plays even when well covered and Frank Gore is still a formidable back.

Hopefully this follows the same script as the '99 season, with a slightly different ending.

Fitz helps up weather the storm, then Jake comes back and we surge through the playoffs.

Likely? Probably not. But that won't stop me from dreaming.

my main concern is for his hip to heal correctly. If this hip continues to bother him after coming back from injury then I think this could really put his career in jeopardy.

The latest news is that it isn't broken or dislocated; but that it may be a 4-8 week injury.
AS FANS WE SHOULD ALL PRAY FOR A 4 WEEK OUTTAGE!

If we can manage to win both home games vs. KC and SF in the next 3 weeks, we'll be OK. Winning at Seattle in week 6 would be tough even for an elite QB. We have our bye in week 8, so lets hope JL can make it back for week 9.

Also, as fans we need to place our faith in our revamped O line to protect Ryan and give him the time he needs. Don't forget, that once Fitz settled in yesterday he threw a 70+ yd bomb to Nate. He can throw if given protection and time. We need to also be confident that our D can keep the pressure cooker going on opposing QB's. Does it suck, yes... is this the end? Far from it... This is a test for us for sure; this is the adversity that proves a teams mettle!

    Oh ye of little faith!

That ball was way under thrown. Great job by nate to catch that pass but he needs to throw the deep ball better than that.
