I just wanted to get some thoughts and perspective about games being played in London considering the fact that there will be a game there this weekend. I know Goodell is all about expanding the game but I am not a fan of this because it does take away a home game from one of the teams. I was watching Mike and Mike this morning on ESPN2 and listened to them talk about Goodell wanting to put a franchise there. I also don't think that would work because you can't expand the league, it is completely symmetrical....4 divisions, 4 teams per division and 2 conferences and adding an extra team would disrupt that and the schedule. The travel would also be an issue, Greeny said if Seattle had to go play a game in London, time difference is 9 hours!

Then they talked about the possibility of the Superbowl being played in London. I get the financial aspect of it but at the same time this is an American sport with American teams and it should be played on American soil. I would be really angry if they did play the Superbowl over there. Any thoughts on this, I am quite interested to see these responses...

I don't mind a game or two a season over there, or maybe even having a team. But no Superbowl. City's make so much money off that weekend with hotel rates, etc it shouldn't be taken from America.

Totally agree with CaseyTrain on this.

Let them take a lousy team (like they do) like Tampa (who BTW can't sell any tickets) or Jacksonville and send them across the pond.

But the Super Bowl is sacred, if it leaves American soil that would be wrong to do IMO.

To be fair if we have teams in Canada and London and think they have every right to put their hat in the ring for a Superbowl hosting. I'm all for a global acknowledgement of how awesome Football is.

Then you could really say "World Champions" and mean it.

We're probably only 3 or 4 years away from Goodell really pushing this. He's been trying.

I like it. It gives the Vikings and Steelers a chance to try out new footwear and the option of shorts or chinos.

We can't have a team over there. It wouldn't be fair to the players.

Imagine the jet-lag they'd have flying back and forth- and same to the teams going out there.

Yea, if a team is added in London... that's where the downfall of the NFL begins. Well, it's already begun, but it will be in full force at that point.

We already have rules in place limiting flights to and from the West Coast.

Play all the preseason games in Europe so PSL holders don't have to pay for the trash.

Like others have said, we need the revenue in our cities or compensation somehow. And DW's great point of jet lag, we already suffer enough going to the west coast as is... We need to figure out what the dolts did this weekend though.
