Regardless of the play-calling I think we now know what Locker is. He is what he is. He isn't suddenly going to turn into a Kapernick or a Wilson or a Luck ... He is what he is. Middle of the road QB that may win you some games and also will lose you games. Hoping he'd have a coming out party this year with added consistency and accuracy but I am ready to just throw my hands up in the air, stop wishing and wait for the "next" Titan franchise QB to roll through in the next year or 2. But for now I will just enjoy this "upset" win.

I am kind of "blehhh" on him at this point. He's hard to hate but at the same time he isn't no Mac-9. He's just kinda there. I don't see much improvement coming sadly. Not to be a debbie downer but as I said ... Locker is who he is, time to face it.

ANYONE coming into Heinz against that defense is a game manager. If we had gone in with a game plan for Jake to sling it fifty times, we are leaving with a loss, and possibly an injured quarterback.

Bottom line... Jake outplayed his counterpart, a ten year veteran with two super bowl rings today.

I agree, not knocking their D in any way. I just think he will be a little more settled and throw in the general area of the WR on most attempts lol

Locker definitely needs to settle down but I think week 1 , a lot of qb's are over pumped but it is something he definitely needs to work on

Mainly Im implying that they wont confuse Jake as much as he was today. There were some attempts, where you looked at him and thought to yourself "who the hell are you throwing to".

I do think he will look better against Houstons D, even if he makes mistakes.Today, at times, he looked like a deer with headlights glaring down on him so he just threw the thing and hoped like hell.

Im hoping the difference between the #1 defense last year, and the #7 defense last year, gives a little give as to how he performs.

Guess we will see next week.

He gets this season, unless he really stinks it up. If he doesnt show he can be the guy this year, I wont be so optimistic about him in the future. I believe you are dead on about the accuracy if he cant get better, but i believe being more comfortable will help him. That comes with playing softer defenses, and experience. My hope is that with experience, he will relax and those "wtf" throws we saw today will become fewer and fewer.

Yeah, I agree with all of that. Next week will be another big test of all of this for sure.

There may be something to having such bad protection last year. I've been giving Jake the benefit of the doubt, but for the first time I'm began to have serious doubts. If his first read wasn't open he started dancing immediately, and like others have mentioned - the accuracy wasn't there even when his receivers were open. (Although he seemed to be connecting well with Nate - so maybe it's a chemistry thing with other receivers? Some of the passes to Walker in particular stood out as just being on different page).

I'm still hoping for the best, but today was not encouraging.

Unfortunately Locker looked like a rookie today. Hopefully he can show some promise next week.
