One Titans player who’s had a very quiet preseason to date has been defensive end Kamerion Wimbley.

Wimbley has just one tackle in the first two preseason contests and he’s seen the field sparingly. In Saturday’s preseason loss to Cincinnati, Wimbley was on the field for just 21 snaps, which was fewer than other defensive ends such as Derrick Morgan (33 snaps), Keyunta Dawson (25), Karl Klug (24) and Ropati Pitoitua (24).

The Titans have said they plan to use Wimbley less this season (he played more than 900 snaps last year) in order to keep him effective throughout games. But it’s getting harder to figure out his role, considering that Morgan and Pitoitua appear set as starting defensive ends, and that Akeem Ayers will frequently be used as a rusher in passing situations.

So just how many snaps per game will Wimbley — who is in the second year of a five-year, $35 million contract – get this year?

“It just depends on what we have him doing, on what his role ends up being,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said. “If he’s going to be the fourth rusher in nickel, be part of a three-down package, if he’s going to be a back-up to Morgan in base defense … So (how many reps he gets) is just going to depend on who we play against.”

Pitotua broke his hand, so I think that puts Wimbley right back in the thick of things.

I think the Ayers injury will really give Wimbley more looks too. I can see him filling in for Ayers at OLB at the line of scrimmage

I wouldn't mind seeing that against the Falcons. Just a few snaps atleast. We are paying him too much for Munch to not have a concrete role for him yet.

He has been a massive disappointment. I endorsed that signing too which is embarrassing to admit.

He's making way too much money, but it's exactly what I expected him to get when he signed.

Even against third stringers he was invisible. smh

Just shows you how awful our offseason was last year and our desperation to sign someone for so much money who does so little.
