If they do an 18 schedule I hope they start the season sooner rather than have it end later. Like the weekend before labor day.

Eliminate pre-season. 20 regular season games. The catch is players can ONLY participate in 16 games. Makes for some interesting decisions on when to start the best players. And obviously rosters would have to expand.

The problem isn't the number of preseason games but the cost to loyal season ticket paying fans who are reamed each season by being forced to buy them.

The smart thing to do would be to bring the price for those tickets way down and make them optional to season ticket holders. Maybe a $76 ticket is only $23. Problem is, the NFL would just slide the difference in the price of the regular season games.

This has been a gripe going on since before the Titans/Oilers even came to Nashville. :wall:

I think it is clear at this point it will never change. It is clear the owners do this because they know they can. Preseason games in all major pro sports leagues are a giant cash cow. Along with post-seasons.

I'm okay with getting reamed for postseason games. That's the goal, IMO. ;)

All this talk about what the NFL can do to get fans back into the stadium and the most glaring thing would be to not rape fans by having them pay full price for preseason games.

Reducing the preseason games at this point wouldn't be good, since the players only do 1 practice a day now. You get to the regular season when it counts and everyone is sloppy as hell.. no thanks. They're already getting half the practice they're used to.

I think that would do a lot for season ticket sales for sure. And could hopefully lead to fewer blackout games. I grew up in a TV market for a team that had a lot of blackouts (Detroit) and currently live in another TV market that has a lot of blackouts (Buffalo).

Must be something about Lake Erie that makes for NFL teams no one wants to watch.

It baffles me that the price of a pre-season game is the same price of a regular season game. That makes no sense, as the quality of the game is so much lower. It's sad how greedy the world has become.

The two best options I see are:

    1. Keep all 4 games, reduce the cost of admission, and maybe offer more promotions and giveaways to fill the stands. Basically, make it more of a fan-service. No one cares about watching Rusty throw to UDFA's who won't make the team.

    2. Reduce it to two games, and have an 18 game schedule. Add two teams to your schedule from the other conference who finished in the same place as you in the division. My only worry here is keeping the teams healthy for 18+ games.

World has always been greedy son. That is nothing new. And not going to change. Just like how the world has always been violent. ;)
