Snap by snap and day by day, Karl Klug is adjusting to his new position.

Klug spent his first two seasons with the Titans as a defensive tackle, posting a combined 10.5 sacks during that stretch. But with the Titans looking to beef up the interior of their line, the 6-3, 278-pound Klug has been shifted primarily to defensive end.

Whereas last year he lined up in the gap between guard and tackle, he’s now lining up between tackle and tight end.

“It’s a little different, especially playing the six-technique in the run, which is a little different than the three-technique,” Klug said. “But I got a lot of practice with it in OTAs and mini-camp. So I’m still learning, but I’m more comfortable now than I was at the beginning of OTAs.”

He’s had to make some adjustments in his pass-rushing technique as well.

“That’s different, too, especially when that tight end will stay in,” Klug said. “You gotta’ take it a little slower, I guess. So that’s a little different. But it’s still all the same, relatively, you know? It’s getting after the quarterback.”

Klug may see some time at defensive tackle during pass-rush situations, but assuming he makes the team this year, it will be in large part due to how well he converts to end.

So, we can confirm he will not be playing middle linebacker?

I never thought he would play mlb. But, I always enjoy seeing him headed towards the QB. I just hope he does well enough to get more playing time. Never understood sitting him. Not like our DL was better without him.

I agree, his non-existence of play last season puzzled me too.

That was just a bizarre JCBRAVE thing. And he will never give up on it I fear.

Maybe if Bironis struggles we can try him at punter.

I hope he has more success with the change than Jason Jones did.

I think this is his last chance before being cut

Probably, just not much of a market for smaller defensive tackles these days.

I was never really hung up on that at all. Just figured there was no chance of him making the squad as a DT so why not beef up the middle with him as a backer. Levon Kirkland was bigger than Klug and he played MLB for years.

    Just a thought.
