Defensive end Kamerion Wimbley knows the primary reason the Titans signed him to a five-year, $35 million contract last year was to pressure the passer.

So if playing fewer snaps this year might help him in that department, Wimbley is all in favor of it.

Both Wimbley and Derrick Morgan played more than 900 defensive snaps last season. But the Titans plan to rotate their defensive ends more this season, with the hope that more rest will allow Morgan and Wimbley to better pressure opposing quarterbacks.

“To be able to go out there more in passing situations, I think it creates the chances to get more sacks,” Wimbley said. “I’m aware that’s what I was brought in here for. So with that being said, going out there and having more opportunities to get after the quarterback is a good thing.”

Wimbley’s six sacks last year were tied for second on the Titans, but also marked his lowest total since 2008.

The Titans have added a couple of defensive ends since last season, signing free-agent Ropati Pitoitua and drafting Lavar Edwdards. Pitoitua has been playing with the first team on the early downs, with Wimbley being used more in passing situations.

“I feel like it’s a good rotation to keep everybody fresh and for guys to be able to go full speed, 100 miles per hour on every play out there, giving it their all,” Wimbley said. “I think we have quality players in here that allow us the ability to rotate and that’s a good thing.

“I’m a competitor and I want to get out there and give our team the best chance to win. But that said, I’ll just continue to work hard in practice and do everything required of me. Everything else is up to the coaches as far as putting together the lineup. I can’t be concerned about that.”

How about Ayers playing more DE in passing situations. Even if Crutches McCarthy is injured we still have brown and Foku at LB.

Oh your nickle is fancy, 3 LB's.

I prefer to hurry things up, make the QB have to rush the throws, I send 6 and man up, Pollard doesn't like to cover so I have Wilson stick the RB or TE (works 95% of the time in Madden)

The nickle I proposed I intend to be used in some dime situations.

Standing Wimbley up doesnt really make him a LB though. He is best suited to be attacking the LOS. I think that difference just hides the base line of what the defense plans to do. He can drop back and cover if he has to or he can rush the QB.

In those situations I want the three biggest DL in though.

Oh so you'd use Wimbley as the joker... A pass rusher in disguise. Good idea.

Pretty much. Let him play his 34 game a bit. give the opponents a different look to have to unwrap. Never hurts.
