Three reasons why Jake Locker will be successful in 2013:

    • Maturity: He won a quarterback competition last year, dealt with adversity and got experience as a starter. With a full offseason at the helm under his belt he’s better prepared to lead.

    • Blocking: He played behind an injury-ravaged line last season. Solidifying the guard positions with Andy Levitre and Chance Warmack should give him more security.

    • Receivers: The Titans are deep at wide receiver. Tight end Jared Cook is gone, but former 49er Delanie Walker should provide a boost when he recovers from surgery.

Three reasons why Jake Locker will fail in 2013:

    • Inexperience: He started 11 games last fall, but he missed five because of a shoulder injury. He’s far from a savvy veteran and will face plenty of challenges in his second year as the No. 1 QB.

    • Accuracy: He hates the topic, but it’s not going to go away until he completes a better percentage of his passes. With a better supporting cast, his warts will be even more obvious.

    • Toughness: It should be a positive, but it could work against him. He initially hurt his shoulder while making a tackle. If he’s going to run more often (as expected), he has to make good decisions.

Valid comments but nothing anyone here hasn't already mentioned.

If I were Munch, I'd focus on getting the running game back on track this camp. That's the one thing which would most help Jake and the Defense this season.

This is the biggest thing for me. The maturity will come. The blocking will be good. I don't question his toughness, although he has been fragile. We have plenty of targets... the question is: can Locker put the ball where it needs to be. Thus far, it's been no. It will make or break his year/career.

Yup, good run game is essential to a young QB's success.

Just look at all the guys Locker gets compared to. RG3, Wilson, Kaepernick, Luck, all get good play from their RB's.

If memory serves this was one of the biggest factors in the Titans wanting Locker. Basically that he was not another VY headcase.

Just hope OT does not have the same problems. Not too high on our backup OTs compared to backup OGs.

Also a healthy and motivated (contract year) Kenny Britt will help.

Well, there is only one way to improve this.

Then it is up to the offensive coaching staff to put him in a position to succeed.

Threaten to cut a toe off every time Locker does not slide when he should

Toughness and experiance will not be his problem.

If he fails, reasons why it happened:

    -Accuracy
    -Field Vision
    -Decision making

    One more. Bad coaching ;)

Not saying they are bad. Just unproven. If they turn out to be bad then it will hurt Locker........... No pun intended there.

Jake now has a coordinator that knows how to utilize his strengths, he will surprise anyone doubting him.

Palmer's system sucked, it was outside-in and had too many variables, bad idea for a young QB.

I question that he actually "won" the QB competition. In all honesty I don't think he gained crap last year.

Extremely on point. We gotta get him hitting the short dunks to the TEs as well as a quality run game. After we start producing the small things (that really matter) he will look much better
