Le Mans 2013 is about to start. There's danes on pole in 3 of 4 classes. Only the 'Vette with Jan Magnussen seems to be lacking about 10 km/h top speed. All sessions (qual, practice, warm up) has been cut short due to red flags and the weather has been changing between sun and rain. LMP1: #2 Audi. Tom Kristensen. With MchNish and the fast frenchman Loic Duval, is a team 2 two experienced but still fast drivers and a new, young and extremely fast driver. The question is whether Duval can keep up his 1 lap pace over 2/3 stints. LMP2: #24 Oak Racing/Morgan-Nissan. David Heinemeier Hansson, "gentlemen driver". His primary target is to go safe, but fast. His two teammates Olivier Pla and Alex Brundle (yes, the son of Martin) are both fast. The team qual'ed with nearly a second to no. 2 in the class. GT Pro: #73 Corvette. Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor. They won recently a Laguna Seca, but apparantly they're missing about 10 km/h top speed and about 4 seconds per lap. Latest news is that they know what's wrong, but can't fix it in time. (Info from an on grid interview with Big Mac mounted in the car). GT Am: #95 Aston Martin. 3 danish drivers, Allan Simonsen, Christoffer Nygaard and Kristian Poulsen. They were at Le Mans last year with a team that less than ready and they had ****load of problems. This year they're leading the FIA WEC GT AM series and the team is partnered with Aston Martin Racing. They ready, fully prepared and all 3 are fast and experienced drivers. Big time favorites.
Unfortunately, the #95 Aston didn't last long. A severe crash, the car is out and the driver is taken to the hospital. No video of what happened, just of the wreced car missing right door and one of the reer wheels. No news about how the driver is doing.
