Some people might not agree but i don't give a schzit i think C.J. is one of the best players we've had.Yes we only made the postseason his first season of what should've been a super bowl year but the last few seasons we've fallen short certainly can't lay that all at his feet.Going into his sixth year he has played every game in his career and is still a dangerous running back who quite possibly could have one of his best years yet with our revamped offensive line.He already has nearly 7,000 yards rushing and with two or three more seasons could possibly break Eddie George's franchise record of 10,000 yards.I think with our newly revamped line C.J. could quite possibly break a few more records here and lead us back to the postseason.


Only the seventh player to break 2,000 yards in a season and holds the total yardage from scrimmage record meaning that C.J. has more yards in a season than any player in history.In 2009, he became the first player in NFL history with at least 2,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season.He is the only player in NFL history with 6 TD runs of over 80 yards. No other player has more than three.With his three touchdown runs of 85 or more yards in 2009 (91, 89, 85), and one in 2012 (94), he is the only player in NFL history to register four career touchdown runs of 85 or more yards. No other player has more than two such career touchdown runs.He is the only player in NFL history with a touchdown of 50 yards, 60 yards, and 80 yards, in one game. A 57 yard rush, a 69 yard reception, and a 91 yard rush. (week 2 vs Texans, 2009).He became the first player in NFL history with six consecutive games of 125+ rushing yards and a 5.0+ yards per carry average in each of those games (Breaking Jim Brown's record set in 1958 of five consecutive games).

 

I think if we're being honest with ourselves, this should be an all Oiler Mt. Rushmore. Campbell, Moon, Bethea, Matthews, Munchak.... all HoFers. That's some pretty tough competition.

If any Titan should be in the discussion, I'd say it's Eddie. 24th all-time rushing yards. 31st all-time rushing TDs. Still, I don't know if I'd put him ahead of those Oiler greats.

Steve, aside from maybe one or two seasons, was never really anything special (statistically speaking). We all loved him and remember him fondly for his "Iron Man" mentality. Very, very, respectable. But again, I just don't see how you put him ahead of those other guys who are HoFers.

Frank, I love him but I kind of put him in the same category as Steve. We have lots of fond memories of him. But at the end of the day he wasn't a transcendent player or an all-time great.

Fishhead, ugh, I don't see how you put a .500 coach with a sub-.500 playoff record who never won the big game on there. Again, he was the face of the franchise for awhile and lots of Titans fans still love him. But a Campbell, Moon, Matthews, Bethea he is not.

I suppose you could make an argument for Bud given how long he's been around and his ties to the formation of the AFL. But like Fisher, he's never put together a SB winning team. So I don't think it's unfair to judge him accordingly. I don't think I'd put him on the "Mt. Rushmore" but I wouldn't argue much with anyone who did.

I hate to admit it, but we don't have any bona fide all-time great Titans. Maybe CJ will become the first.
