    Some observations from Thursday’s OTA:

–Quarterback Jake Locker had another good day throwing the football. He was off-target on some throws on the run. Heading into Thursday’s OTA, Locker had thrown 12 touchdowns and three interceptions in team and 7-on-7 drills combined, per offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. I counted two more touchdowns on Thursday, when he didn’t throw a pick. Locker also ran one in for a score.

–Wide receiver Kendall Wright has really impressed me in the two OTAs I’ve watched. Wright, who’s down 12-15 pounds from a year ago, showed solid hands as a rookie, but I don’t remember him being as shifty as he’s looked so far this offseason.

–Western Kentucky tight end Jack Doyle is taking full advantage of his opportunities. The undrafted free agent caught more than a half dozen balls on Thursday, including a touchdown from Locker. Doyle has soft hands and moves well for his size (6-6, 253).

–Cornerback Tommie Campbell, who worked with the first team on Thursday, intercepted a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass. Campbell gave up a completion to Kenny Britt later in practice when the wide receiver went up to grab the football. But Campbell, as I wrote in this space last week, is going to be a factor.

–Fernando Velasco and Rob Turner split time with the starting group at center and left guard. Rookie Brian Schwenke will be in the mix in the weeks to come, but right now the veterans are getting their turn.

–Alterraun Verner has spent his first three NFL seasons as cornerback, but he worked at free safety on Thursday as the team looks to expand his role on the defense. Before anyone wonders: No, Verner is not bumping Michael Griffin from his starting spot.

I'm trying not to get overly pumped but love hearing about Wright being more shifty.

I'm not buying into the Campbell-hype yet. We got a lot of that this time last year.

I'm really hoping to see Campbell prove his worth this year. I think this defense needs his size and aggressive mentality. I'm pretty happy to hear he's getting looks again this season. I hope he proves he can start.

Good to hear locker is getting good numbers in practice and I figured Doyle was going to be a decent receiving target from his college tape.

he won't get huge YAC, but he runs good routes and actually catches everything.

Yeah I can't make myself get on the Campbell train right now. He always does great things in practice, but we have a better time finding Waldo during the game, unless he is getting a 15 yard penalty on special teams.

Lol. I'm not saying you couldn't... However it would be nice to see him actually getting some play time in live action. Target who he covered. Find out what he had success on. Watch it like a college game tape.

The jags might be the jags.., but there is still nfl talent on that team.
