Tight end Delanie Walker missed another OTA session on Tuesday after tweaking a knee during an indoor practice last week.

The former 49er underwent an MRI on Monday and was scheduled to see the results late Tuesday afternoon, but coach Mike Munchak said he doesn’t believe the injury is serious.

“It’s just soreness,” Munchak said. “It’s probably from him having a long season and not having as much time off as the rest of them. But he’s fine.”

Also sitting out: wide receiver Justin Hunter (hamstring), wide receiver Kenny Britt (knee), wide receiver Roberto Wallace (ankle), safety Markelle Martin (groin), safety Robert Johnson (foot), center Eugene Amano (knee) and guard Chris Spencer (calf).

Britt and Hunter practiced on Monday. Munchak said Britt was held out Tuesday as a precaution and Hunter hamstring was slightly sore at the end of Monday’s practice.

Two players who participated Tuesday after sitting out last Friday were defensive tackle Mike Martin and wide receiver Kevin Walter.

What is going on with Munchak? I'm not a big fan of these soft days off. Seems counterproductive to an ethic of hard work and best man gets the job. Or either these are real minor injuries and we are screwed.

I believe the thinking here is at this point its better to have them sit out and recover than to push through and develop a more serious injury. They are already in shape just need to learn the plays and techniques and that can be done through watching and observing.

Relax dude, it's OTAs. No point pushing injured guys otherwise you might get a Crabtree.

I get that however, soft days off is counter to the culture he has stated he wants to instill. It is the inconsistency that I find noteworthy. What player wouldn't want a soft day off and will Munchak be willing to give ALL players the same treatment, especially during TC when muscles get sore and "stars" get worn down.

I'm not making a big deal out of it. Just observing something that I think could potentially be a problem down the road when things pick up.

I wouldn't knock too hard on Harbaugh. He went to the big show last year. I'll take some of his coaching style any day.

It's not knocking Harbaugh, it's just common sense. It's OTAs, not TC and not during the season. Why push a guy with a hamstring problems in OTAs, it could easily get worse and not better.

My comment was either the days are soft or we're seeing a slew of minor injuries. I don't like either situation. It seems like we are seeing Munch being cautious, I don't have a problem with that, but the number of them makes me think that these minor injuries might not be as real as we are being led to believe.

I don't have a problem with Munchak not pressing guys to push themselves. But hamstring issues after a couple of OTA's? Really? Lingering knee issues with no contact drills? Really? I just don't like the sound of it either way.

And there really isn't much else to talk about so I'm just commenting on something that seems noteworthy to me. The fastest way to lose a team (or staff) is to not treat people consistently. I'm concerned Munch is setting a precedent and is at risk to have it create problems for him down the road when bodies REALLY start hurting and guys REALLY need days off.

btw- put the "slightly sore" hamstring on a bike or in the books. Not give him the OK to be absent from OTA.

at this point in the offseason all teams should be really worried about is getting their players in shape. So as long as these guys are running everyday thats all that matter!

OTAs nowadays arent what they once were. it used to be OTAs were used as a starting point to get you ready for training camp. Now though guys are coming into them in shape, so theres really no need to push players hard. These are more mental than physical, so holding a player out is the best thing to do if hes hurting.
