Just something I've noticed but when people try to discredit Brady they say he is a system QB but when people try to discredit Belichek it's because he has Brady.

Good, he is a much better OL coach than the guy we have now

This coaching taff has made their share of head scratching moves but if we rewind to the pre-season of Munch's first year (the lock-out), prior to the draft, look at all the holes this team had. Just on defene we had not one decent LB, our best DE blew his knee out, one of our DEs was flipping Dave Ball for God's sake and we didn't have **** at SS. Our best DT had to be moved to DE because we were so lean there and DT after Jones was horrendous. So while I'm not defending Gray or Munch neccessarily they had **** to work with and quite honestly the draft was successful partly in getting some help.

On offense we had to draft a franchise QB and sign a vet to start off the season because we didn't have anything at QB. WR might have been one of the stronger area on the team until of course Britt blew his knee out.

That is why re-building, especially when you have to take a QB takes a few years. The team is just now stopping the bleeding with all the hole they had. They re-built the DL the LBs, now have legit NFL caliber S at both spots with some depth, and with thi sdraft and last season's draft help at CB. The OL has been re-built in the interior, we have three TEs that can block as well as catch (assuming Thompon can catch) and we have two early picks at WR to go with Britt. Locker is going into his 3rd season and now has some support.

Again, not making major excuses but will wait to see how the coaching staff does this seaon before I say people are over their head. Also keep in mind with the late departure of Fisher in the off-season Munch had to take what he could get for coordinators his first year.

I just don't understand people who say "Munch inherited a mess but...." there is no but. This team was in absolutely shambles when he took over and it takes a few years to create a roster/culture change. People always think they know how long something should take even when they've never been in the situation. How can you know that a team is rebuilding but expect them to win and make playoffs at the same time?

Its a joke that Munch was given the job, yes. I equate it to sales: It's a little bit like giving the secretary of a sales team the sales manager position. But like its been said, he had NOTHING to work with and didn't have a snowball's chance from the start. The FO has done everything they can (since Reinfeldt's lazy, incompetent butt got canned) to give him the pieces. I pray it works out because I don't think I can stand another 3 years of eye-rolling, head-scratching mediocrity at best. If the old man cleans house again, he'll never see another 8-8 season, let alone a play-off game.

I see both sides of this discussion. Munch WAS in over his head NO doubt. This is year three and big time changes have occurred. Munch is 2 years wiser in experience and he isn't stupid. He is a smart likable guy. This year will tell just how much he has learned and if he CAN be relied upon to coach a winning team.

He inherited the team in a really crappy situation. I was initially infuriated there wasn't a "real" selection process when Fisher left. It all seemed too convenient for Munch that he got the job. Palmer would have never been anybody's first choice. Munchak also was hog-tied with Reinfeldt. That didn't help. I'm still a bit unsettled withe the hiring situation but this year's off-season has given me hope that we'll be back. And honestly, I've not had this feeling since 02-04.

So I say all this because I truly am excited and INTERESTED to see what happens this year. If we make the playoffs- great! If we don't but look promising and LOOK competitive - fine. Either of those two and I'm comfortable the franchise is heading in the right direction. I'd be OK keeping munch and Co. If we get blown out(>30 pts) in more than one game and no playoffs then bye bye Munch you had your chance.

You know, we should probably be hoping for Munch to pan out because I would assume he had a good amount of pull in who we brought in this season and who we drafted this year.

A new coach from outside the organization will probably not have as much say.
