That would be a great pickup for the vet minimum. Played in a similar scheme in Chicago. Also played DT along with DE.

I'm actually excited about Tom Wort as an UDFA. I think he can become a solid backup to McCarthy and if injuries continue to effect McCarthy, I could see Wort stepping up and becoming a solid player in the middle of the defense. Leaving my fingers crossed for a healthy McCarthy, though.

Wort is too small to play MLB

Oh, my bad.. McCarthy is 6-1 238 and Wort in 6-0 235. You're absolutely right.. 1 inch and 3 pounds mean all the difference. Especially between a guy that is a rookie and hasnt been in an NFL program compared to a guy who has been in one for over two years.

Good breakdown of the defense. As for DE/DT, I'm pretty sure the monster we signed from KC is actually more of a DE than DT. I was surprised hearing of his size, but I recall either Munchak or Webster making a comment about him seeing more time at DE.

I think Casey & Martin will continue to improve, and hopefully Lee Hill turns out to be a good signing. These 3 should provide for a solid DT unit. Morgan needs to be an absolute force at DE this season.

Let's get at least 12 games out of Mccarthy, that's what I'm hoping for lol. Foiku/Gooden can find a way to handle the rest. Speaking of Gooden, I hope we find a way to get him/Brown/Ayers on the field at once. Ayers should absolutely see more snaps at DE this season.

CB is going to be interesting. With Wreh-Wilson being a 3rd round pick + having the size we're looking for at CB, he's a candidate to see early playing time. With that said, Sensabaugh will certainly make a claim for some time at nickel. Wooten and Campbell will have to battle for the 5th CB spot, which should be an interesting one.

I assume Pollard will start at SS, but I do hope George Wilson sees his fair share of time -- from what I've heard, Pollard struggles in pass coverage where Wilson excels.

I'm excited for our defense we are very young and everyone will benefit from another year of experience. I think we will look back at DT after the season as a strength I see Casey and Martin making big strides and SLH providing a nice presence in the rotation he can move for a big man. A lot of the hate on Morgan is unjust imo, the guy should be finally recovered fully from an ACL and played very well last year. Everybody wants to judge DE on sacks but that is an unfair assessment of their overall game.
