Good pickup. Velasco had a very quiet and successful year, especially when you look to see who his RG/LG were. Now lets draft his replacement, Barrett Jones, in the 3rd.

Titans center Fernando Velasco, a restricted free agent, signed his one-year tender on Monday morning and began taking part in the team’s voluntary workout program.

Velasco started all 16 games for the Titans in 2012, including 13 starts at center and three at guard.

The Titans tendered Velasco at a second-round level last month. He’s scheduled to make $2.023 million in 2013.

Meh, $2M/yr isn't enough to lash out over, but I'm not really thrilled about keeping Velasco to be honest.

C'mon man, Valz arguably played better than both Roos/Stewy last year. It was also his first time playing C as well, I can really see him becoming a great iOL for us.

Also, he is naturally a G and when he was a back-up he played extremely well there. He might be better suited to actually play there, but since he was good at C as well, we should try to keep him there and see how good he can become next year.

Suffice it to say, based on his spot duty play as well as C play last year, I'd be very happy if we lock him up with a deal similar to what we gave Amano (5 year @ 5M annual).

My morning just keeps getting better.

I'm glad to hear he was brought back. Even at this point, without the draft, we have a OL we could field on a Sunday. I'd like us to draft another OG (Warmack at #10 or would be happy with someone in the 2nd or 3rd) to improve even more and I honestly think we're set on O.

I'm expecting Kenny to have a much better season and for CJ to have a great year as well. The added protection should help Locker a good deal this year.

Not sure why it's ever news when a player signs his tender. He really doesn't have much choice in the matter. Now if a player refused to sign his tender, that would be news.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree then....

We usually see things similarly too, opposite the ATV/JMAC debates on who is better, we usually eye to eye.

But I've analyzed Valz a WHOLE LOT over the years, if you care to look at the history of my posts keying Valasco as a search trigger you'll see. He really is a very, very good iOL and he also has the ability to play ANY spot on the iOL if the need be. Also, as his sample size has grown, he hasn't gotten any worse the more he plays (in fact he continues to get better).

Finally, he might actually be a better G than C, which sucks, b/c I'm pretty sure he will stick at C moving forward (not too mad though, the dude is smart and can grow into that position, plus I'm really pulling for Chance @ #10).

I dont hate him, I just dont love him. To me he's expendable, whereas in your eyes it seems like he's a keeper.

I just don't agree with that, but I'm alright holding onto him for one more year. Maybe he impresses and is worth keeping, but today he's not, not IMO anyways.
