Playoff Hopes End for Titans After 42-17 Blowout

Titans fans ended Christmas with a lump of coal in their stockings as Tennessee was crushed by the San Diego Chargers 42-17. It was a total meltdown as the Titans played horribly in all phases of the game including three turnovers by Vince Young on his way to a career-low 11.9 passer rating. "Too many turnovers on my behalf, definitely," Young said. "That's pretty much it. Every time we got into a rhythm, I turned the ball over and that is something I can't do. We were driving the ball pretty good, and it was the turnovers on my behalf that hurt us." But the defense took it's share of the blame as the Chargers racked up 425 yards of offense. "We gave them a lot of turnovers and had too many penalties," Stephen Tulloch said. "We are a better football team than that, and when we went on the winning streak we weren't doing that. But we fell back to that tonight and we can't do that. … Inconsistent football won't get it done in this league." The Titans will try to end their disappointing season at 8-8 as they take on the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday. Chris Johnson needs 234 yards in that game to break Eric Dickerson's NFL single-season rushing mark of 2,105.
