Johnson Wants ROY Season
Staff Report
Aug 14, 2008

Chris Johnson has set his goals high for his rookie season. "My main goal is to win rookie of the year,'' Johnson said. "I want to come in and do the same thing Adrian Peterson came in and did last year. I think that is possible." Peterson was NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season after rushing for 1,341 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Vikings. Johnson will play opposite Darren McFadden, the first running back drafted this year, Friday night in a nationally-televised game. "It motivates me because every time we are on TV and every time we play a game it is campaigning for the rookie of the year, and he'll be one of the competitors trying to get rookie of the year,'' Johnson said of McFadden. "But I feel like if I do what I have to do to help this team succeed, then the rookie of the year should come, and everything else should fall into place for us as a team."
