    Funny gunny?

Vince young is a pro bowl QB and gut is overly impressed that he threw an accurate pass. What is wrong with that picture? Wouldn't we EXPECT him to be accurate most of the time?

Young is a player that drives himself to be the best, to be exellent. I don't think he appreciates the patronizing pat on the head for throwing a good pass or two..

You're witnessing the too-common fan+player emotional attachment. Where nomatter what the player does ever, he's still doing good and always will be doing good, because he's our boy.
I hate it, but sometimes you've got to recognize it and realize you can't fight it. No logic will work.

Oh. That is so wrong. We've already proven with stats that he had a good to great day. We took the emotion out of it, and threw the stats at you. The yards speak for themself. And the only way you could refute them was with he had more snaps? Please. That is not even an argument. It is ridiculum. If you are having a good day, you're going to have a lot more snaps then then if you are having a bad day. It almost closes the case for us. I was actually surprised the yards proved our point, but when you unfold them, they do.

I am not going to deny the turnovers, but they are negligible at best.

A bad game would be what McNair did last year. Not what Vince did this year. He was good to great.

I wouldn't get so homer I would say he was good to great. Carson Palmer was good to great (190 yards, 2 TDs, O ints). Young was decent on a couple of plays but because of their fear he would lose the game for them the AFC coaches replaced him with Palmer down the stretch (which ticked me off because I wanted to see him play). Basically the game was meaningless except I'm glad Young played because it can only help him to have the experience.

Oh, saying an int down by the goal line is "negligible at best" is just wrong.

    Roll...

What did you think I meant when I said he made MISTAKES?

When you're trying to make an evaluation, comparing him to other players who are more known and playing under the same conditions is a good way to help judge a performance...as opposed to strictly looking at stats. If you like raw statistical data that can be argued either way....enjoy them.

I'm glad you 'liked' it though it's lightyears away from a rah rah speech and certainly not intended that way.

Was I touting VY to be the next Marino because he made the Pro Bowl? No. In another post I pointed out (TO YOU I BELIEVE) that while technically Young played in a Pro Bowl, he wasn't elected to play so he's not on the same tier as a Brady or Manning.

I did enjoy him making the Pro Bowl only because that'd give me one more chance to watch him play...so sue me. To me, the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest so I rate players as Pro Bowl caliber or not.

How many other players did I complain about not being worthy in the Pro Bowl? ZERO. Why? Because it doesn't really matter. It's a popularity contest for the most part. I don't waste my time going over every player that deserved to go and every player that got snubbed. And I certainly don't bother with one of our guys being an injury replacement (unless it's a really slow week). I'm sure VY took something away from it and enjoyed it, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not gonna help us win a championship.

And as far as making a simple and honest assessment of how he played, I did EXACTLY that. Let me quote myself to help you out...

"IMO, we saw out of Young what I expected to see. Some excellent plays, some plays only he and a Vick can make, but also some rookie mistakes..."

Let me know if this isn't simple or honest enough for you...

Great is extreme homerism, but I am preparing to counter TNT thunder and Roll Tides extreme negativism. It is bargaining position, lol. I think he had a good day. and that's my honest opinion.

And I don't think he reads these boards.

    Phislamma short circuit..

We've already proven with stats that he had a good to great day
    -------------------------

The stats prove the exact opposite. What are you talking about? I responded to your stat arguement and i find your conclusions illogical. No QB who plays 1/3 of a game and had 2 turnovers is playing great.

I'm not being negative at all i'm just being honest. I doubt if vince feels he had a good game and if people like yourself could just admit the obvious we could be done with it..

Wow. lol. Uh. I don't even know what to say at this point.

He played for 10 minutes, had 2 fumbles, 1 interception, and completed under 50% of his passes. If there's one thing these stats do tell, it's not that he had a 'good' day, and it's definitely not that he had anywhere near a 'great' day. That statement alone shows your delirium.
