in 2 yrs Young will have what 1 yr left on his contract?

his mental health is shot and that will effect his play from here on out. He can't handle the thought on not being the one everyone likes. He may want to quit the game instead of getting boo'ed again

    Um...huh?

WHY would he want out of Tenn? Think about it. From another team's perspective, are you gonna spend several million dollars and give the most important position on the field to a guy who is being portrayed as a basket case? And if he just wants out of Tenn, that would be even more damaging to his career.

The only way he gets out of Tenn is if they cut him. Outside of that, he'll probably get a chance here next year or when Collins is done. If he asked to be released, he'd be lucky to get a new contract for the vet minimum...which is a huge dropoff from his current contract. He'd also have to fight for a 2nd string job as opposed to being given it here. He also has a lot of support here in Adamas and Fisher...which he's NOT likely to get anywhere else.

    Well...

Since none of us know what got him to react the way he did or his mental health, it's useless to bash the guy.

What makes you think he has no work ethic? By all accounts he was a hard worker in College and when he first got here and has offered to fly our WR's down to Houston to workout with him. Does that sound like someone with no work ethic? Willing to spend his own money to improve not only himself but our passing attack is a GOOD THING! That IS treating this like a career!

Is it bashing to say a dead man, is dead??

Gut, taking your WRs down to Houston to toss the ball around for a week and "meet my boys" is a lot different then having a threesome of Manning, Edge and Marvin in the bubble every single day during the offseason. If Vince Young's work ethic was so good, how come he is a carbon copy of himself as a True Freshman at UT?? He hasn't changed one bit, not faster, stronger, better mechanically, mentally tougher. Just the opposite, he's been given everything, so he hasn't had to work for anything in quite some time. Why do you think he went back to Austin last year???? for his degree?? Yeah right:( To be back at that place where everyone worships him like a god, and doesn't care about his future, but more on his past accomplishments.

Speaking of his WRs, I don't see any of these guys jumping on the grenade for him, the guys he "built strong relationships with during 7 days in Houston".

I hardly doubt thats why he went back to school,he actually made a good decision by going back and getting his degree. VY isn't going to be playing football untill hes 40,heck he might not even make it to 30 the rate hes going but you got to give him credit for doing what alot of young players dont do when they leave college early. Sure the timing was questionable but to sit there and criticise the guy for finishing up school and thinking about life after football is ridiculous.

I'm just saying that there is always a team looking for a QB. If he shows he's still got the mojo we saw in 06 then if another team shows interest then he could very well try to ditch Tennessee, especially if his deal is restructured like some want it to be. If his deal is considerably cut down then the money won't be much of an issue.

My point is that, aside from the money, if what reporters like to say is true, about his teammates being tired of him and whatnot, then could very well try to leave.

Collins has a 2 year deal and Vince's contract balloons after this coming season.

He didn't get his degree, he took a couple of classes. Everyone who is familiar with UT/Austin knows that VY had to get back to being coddled, his place of familiarity/fame/notoriety. Everyone knows it's a wise decision to complete your college degree, but to do it entering your 3rd year as a franchise QB is questionable, and the ensuing drama was just akin to that fact. Nobody in Tennessee is going to wipe Vince's bottom for him and tell him it's ok, this isn't Austin and he isn't our savior. He's got enough money to go to college for the rest of his life, but why should it supercede his commitment to the Titans and their Football team?? He didn't seem that interested when he was in Austin, sure did jump at the chance to leave school as an underclassmen.....now he can't wait to get back??? What does that tell you?? Ask anyone who's ever played in Austin, you're treated like royalty, like a dreamworld. Vince is so caught up in his own legacy that he cannot move forward. The same happened to Roy Williams, Cedric Benson, Michael Huff.....but they snapped out of it.....Can Vince?:hmm: More importantly, does he even want to??:suspect:

    Texas isn't even worth envying.

It's all about the Horned Frogs...
