If I was Munch I would just transition into a pass 1st team. I'd use CJ on screens, draws, and sweeps. I'd draft a power back next year and use him when we're looking for tough yards or to change up the pace. That way we have a speed back and a power back that teams have to gameplan for. If one isn't working, the other option could.
Yup I think that's identical to the last two years as well. 2010 9th in Pass 31st in rush 2011 2nd in Pass 32nd in rush
Blows my mind how you can have an top-10 pass OL, and the WORST run blocking OL... and not just 1 year, 3 years in a row?! How? Keep in mind, running yards have a factor in this rating. However, in 2009 (CJs 2K season).. we were still the 22nd run blocking OL. So that's not an excuse to why its so bad this year. This raises another question - If our run blocking was still bad in '09 (but not terrible) and CJ was able to get 2K yards... why can't he even get 50 yards/gm this year?
Yea that's true but keep in mind the ranking really isn't as important as the ADJ Line yards. in 09 we were over 4 which is very good, the best team was just at 4.5 so we weren't that far off from being really good and CJ was at his best. 2010 ADJ line yards 3.47 2011 ADJ line yards 3.39 2012 AdJ line yards 1.21 Now I'm pretty sure we'll finish the season between 2.5-3.5 or so but the fact that it keeps dropping isn't good.
You hit the nail on the head and as they say "some people can't see the Forest for the Trees" - Running Back's careers are short compared to other positions - and it appears that Chris is already on the decline. I'm sure having a better OLine would help him, but at the same time it can't give him that 2nd gear, kick it in over drive speed like he used to have. I'm not a CJ hater, but I was there Sunday and in my opinion he is definitely slower.
