Wright speech sparks huge Baylor victory

Titans rookie wide receiver Kendall Wright might have a future as a motivational speaker when his football career is over.

Wright, a Baylor University alum, gave his Bears a pregame speech on Saturday and they responded by whipping then-No. 1 Kansas State 52-24.

Baylor exacted some revenge after losing 36-35 to Kansas State in 2011.

“I can’t tell you what I said,” Wright said with a smile. “(But) they were happy to see me. They were all amped up. (Baylor) felt like (Kansas State) got by with one last year, and the coaches and players down there weren’t going to let that happen again.”

This wasn’t Wright’s first trip back to Baylor this year, but it did mark the first time he’d delivered a pregame speech to the team.

“I’m always there on the sideline, and I’ll go through practice with them, talking to them and helping them,” Wright said. “They all think of me as a big brother, so I just go down there and be a big brother. They’d never heard me talk to them before. I’m not talkative. I’m pretty quiet. But I guess to hear me talk, maybe it helped.”
