Its not a bad game but when your talking about Chris Johnson(NFl lleading rusher) , the titans are going to need alot more than that if they expect to win this game. The more the Raiders make Vince young have to beat them , the more you have to like their chances to leave opening day with a victory.

When you havev a small very fast defense its okay when your playing with a lead. That means your offense is scoring points regularly. Other team playing catchup (see colts) Probably passing more. . When you get in trouble is when other team can pound your undersized front seven into submission.

You don't have to be Vince Lomabardi to know this game will come down to Titans rushing attack versus Raiders revamped rushing defense.

You are only 35 lbs off on that one. Nfl.com lists him at 300 lbs.

I was the worlds biggest fan of Lavar Houston and was sad that he has to play for that hell hole organization. Still a great pick up. Even a blind man is going to be right 10% of the time and they were right about him.

A lot of big names in that Raider front but it is a slow front without Groves and Houston on the field. With them on the bench it might be the slowest front 4 in the whole league. Seymour is a 4-3 DT and has no business playing outside except for run downs. Kelly and Henderson are a solid run stopping pair inside but Henderson is only a part time player at this point.

Sorry but you are over playing the benefits of size. Speed is more important and while the Titans could use that one really big guy like Haynesworth was they can and will be a very effective front.

NO Kelly is much closer to 335 than 300 these days. Raiders have a DT Kellen Heard 6'6 355 in camp and there isn't much of diffrence between the two.

The beauty of Raiders defense is they are capable of playing a 3-4 defense or a 4-3 defense without having to change the personell. The Raiders have four DTs that have the ability to play DE also. They have last year rookie De Matt Shaugnessy 6'5 270 (proved hes a player already will rotate with Houston) and another rookie last year De/DT Desmond Bryant 6'5 310 - watch this Harvard graduate hes got some serious skills.
When Raiders have that monster Dline the Olbs will be the guy putting on the pressure. Going to be very tough for a TE or RB to pick up one of those players.

Raiders are going to move those Dlineman all across the line to get the best matchups. Those Dts jo0b is to eat up the blockers to make lB job much easier. The Olbs Trevor Scott , K Wimbley / Q Groves will move to DE on the passing downs. With probably Seymour/Kelly and houston going inside to DT on passing downs.

Raiders will bring in their Best cover LB Thomas Howard on passing downs. Howard might get one of the starting olbs positions if the Olbs have trouble in coverage.

Raiders defense is very fast. Their secondary and Lbs are very fast . They can do so many things on defense. Watch out for Raiders blitz potential.(three headed safety combination) They can come after QB , drop defenders in coverage and still not lose anything in coverage

Yes Rolando MCClain a rookie. But hes no normal rookie. The guy is the general as he able to come in and lead this defense. He will be making all the calls on defense( very smart player who not only knows his job but everyone elses) He already knows Raiders defense inside out(thats some serious studying he did) His athlethic skill might not be off the chart but you can bet in will be in the hole before the ball carrier is. (diagnose the play real fast).

Its not one change on defense that has me excited but its a serious of moves that tell me Raiders finally might have fixed their porous run defense. Raiders by blowing up their lB corp OUt is K Morrison, Thomas Howard and R Brown/ Jon Alston in are Trevor Scott, McClain and K wimbley/Groves they felt they were a big part of the run defense being so poor. Those LBs were very soft against the run and alot of times would overrun the play leaving big lanes for RB to exploit.

Tom Cable is on very thin ice. Most of his responsibilities are gone. OC Hue Jackson has full control over the offense. John Marshall has control over defense. Cable better get the oline(his baby) up to speed this year or else Hue Jackson will be Raiders next coach.

    Lets try this another way.

    Titans Oline looks something like this . LTM Roos 6'7 315 LG Leroy harris 6'2 302 c Eugene Amano 6'3 310 RG Jake Scott 6'5 295 Rt Davis Stewart 6'6 318 TE Bo Scaife 6'3 250 FB A Hall 5'11 245 RB chris Johnson 5'11 200
    Versus

    Now Raiders front seven LDE L Houston 6'3 305/ Matt Shaugnessy 6'5 270 ldt John Henderson 6'7 335 / Desmond Bryant 6'5 310 RDT Tom Kelly 6'6 335 RDE R Seymour 6'6 310

Those five Olineman aren't blocking those four players by themselve. Well I will give you those five players blocking those four players(to illustrate my point) Now You have TE Scaife 6'3 250 and FB A Hall 5'11 245 matched up on DEs playing Olbs Trevor scott 6'5 255 and K Wimbley 6'4 255 / Q Groves 6'3 265 . Let see those guys block those players. Its a mismatch.

Lets see Raiders dline pushing Titans oline back and eating up all the blockers+ Raiders De/lbs coming up the field with the FB and Te trying to block them =Chris Johnson going no where.

Last point MLB R McClain waiting for C Johnson in the hole .

    Raider9175,
If you're really depending on that O-Line to save the day, you're going to be upset come the end of that game. You relentlessly continue to reiterate the huge O-line you have, however after examining them through a reliable source, I've come to find your line is smaller than you initially thought. The Titans starting O-Line averages 308-pounds per player, your team averages just one pound more at 309. Throwing in the weights of backups who'll never see more than six snaps is meaningless. Also understand you're facing an improved Titans D-Line from last year. Your lineman's height don't help them at all, it hurts them being so tall. If this were basketball you'd have half a case, but in football low man wins.
