He also had/has a fumble problem, I think I remember articles and videos about it. On top of all what you guys are saying, that is also a huge point.
Short yardage backs often get the ball in crucial situations (goal line, key short yardage first downs, etc...). A guy who coughs up the rock at those key moments would kill the little momentum we have...
EDIT - checked to make sure that I was right about the fumble thing: "New Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano has a message for starting running back LeGarrette Blount: Protect the ball, or you won't play."
