I pretty much only watch world cup. I occasionally keep up with Chelsea or Man U, but not really.

I hope they fix two main things. Players that flop should be carded. And add some replay. I think similar to the NFL, someone in the sky that can whistle the ref and then say "hey uh that was actually a goal..." That would also be good for overturning yellow cards and giving out cards for floppers.

Not really the case though. LP Field almost sells out every time a soccer event comes here, and this is redneck country.
The crowds are pretty strong. There are soccer teams here that average more people than your Chicago Bulls. Than my Lakers.

It's definitely growing here. There's no doubt about that.

    ^Awesome. Union's kits/logo/etc are beautiful.

I thought that was true too, but according to our World Cup Bid page promoting Nashville, we've never had a soccer game with more than 29,000.

I'd think that they would know about it if we'd ever sold out a soccer game.

My impression was the same as your though, going into it. Another example of why I can't believe so many of your claims. (not the point in this thread though)

I'm curious if (how much?) interest will wane with the US out of it.

Hmm... I almost edited it and put 'almost', but still not even that close? That's odd. Could have swore the turnouts are great. Still, 29k here is pretty damned good.

    It's great and it's bad.

Great that a game can pull that many.
Bad that it's only one game.

It's the same for us. Everton are playing Melbourne Victory here some time soon. It will get 33,000 at the new stadium. But no A-League game will ever get that close aside from maybe the Final.

I went to one, and my brother in law has been to all of them. He's got a group of people that he knows who are all relatively big soccer fans.

I would definitely go to any World Cup games being held in Nashville that I could get tickets to.
