Spot on, Marcus will do well and the comparision to Rodgers is fitting.

    Love the pick

exactly....They added some nice defensive pieces in Free Agency, and hopefully, with a beefed up offense, they can sustain time of possession and score point, thus, keeping the D fresh and off of the field constantly. That was a HUGE problem last year.

Looks like there getting quite a bit of defensive UDFA. I'm sure they're more of a camp body. You never know with Lebeau though, they might become play makers.

Locker? That was a futile situation for any coach. Mett showed some promise but I think whiz felt like he was going back down a similar path and decided to at least TRY to right his wrong

Rodgers also got to sit 3 years behind the great Brett Favre. Mariota is going thrown to the wolves day 1.

And SYSTEM qb doesn't really mean he's only good in college because of the offense being run.

SYSTEM qb can also mean playing within the confines of the play. Which is something he is very good at. His recognition and pre snap judgements are pretty solid. His mechanics create some inaccuracies. His "within the rules of the play" mentality while great means his offense needs to be suited to him and leaves very little room for playing outside of the scheme. He's not good at improv.

The scheme at Oregon basically asks the defense to reveal itself. Mariota would then make protection changes and attack accordingly based on the play call. The defense would naturally create mismatch zones and open up players because the underneath stuff would cause LBs to shift. Mariota is good at recognizing where these windows would be and had good ball placement between the zones.

The screen plays that are run at a staggering frequency are basically Extended run plays. Even when not effective they were built into the offense to force the defense to crowd the line. Eventually Oregon would go 4 streaks to find an open player deep.

Think "saints offense" - while most people think brees is a gun slinger that's completely incorrect. Their offense is predicated on power run but from a spread offense set. He is the check down/rb screen king. This forces defenses to do similar things to attack the flats and the run. Eventually the spread offense would attack deep and it would normally be a long ball over the middle.

I like the Rodgers comparisons although admittedly premature. I feel like we've outfitted this offense with personnel with similar skill sets like the Packers.
