Excuse Titans defensive end Kamerion Wimbley if he gets a little bit more excited than usual about this Sunday’s game.

The last time Wimbley played in San Diego, he recorded a career-best four sacks against a back-up Chargers’ tackle, Brandyn Dombrowski. He totaled seven solo tackles that night and added a pass defensed in a 24-17 Oakland victory.

“It was one of those games that, I don’t know, it just clicked for me,” Wimbley said. “Just one of those games where you’re in the zone, doing a lot of things right and you come up with a lot of big plays. It just happened to be plays that helped us win the game.”

Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray said the defense watched film of Wimbley’s big performance on Thursday.

“The good thing is they tried to block him one-on-one with the tackle, and Wimbley just did a great job of getting around him, showing him a lot of different looks,” Gray said. “It was his speed that was actually making the play. It wasn’t so much they weren’t trying to block him. He just did a great job of giving some different moves, setting them up.”

Wimbley may find himself going up against another back-up on Sunday, as veteran left tackle Jared Gaither has been dealing with a back injury. Rookie Michael Harris started in place of Gaither last week and had a strong showing against Oakland.

He's facing another practice squad left tackle, so he should dominate.

I hope they keep Gates in to chip on him. The longer it takes for that guy to go out on his route, the better. He kills the Titans.

Gates hasn't practised the last two days due to ribs. Hope he doesn't play :)

I don't think Gates has practiced in four years.
