Dude, it's a video game. They will be do that anyway, WiiFit or Metroid.

There is no benefit from having kids staying in the house playing WiiFit. It is more likely they will see WiiFit as exercise and further alienate themselves from doing outdoor activities.

Just like the WoW people think they are socialising because they play with millions of others online.

Get with the real world. Kids are fatter, you think keeping them at home playing a game that won't improve fitness for 30 minutes is going to improve that?
They need to go out and play with friends for hours, playing soccer or football or basketball or whatever. Fun stuff that actually has a health benefit.

WiiFit may have those games but it certainly does not have those attributes needed to play the sport, it doesn't improve skills in anyway.

Dreamcast had the Dreameye before Sony had the Eye Toy. ;)

Besides Wii Fit is I agree sorta lame but people whine that Video Gamers don't get exercise and the Wii since day one with Wii sports has made being active with games popular this will just further that idea.
And I don't know why you keep bringing kids up when mostly Adults play this system.

Also find it funny someone who has the time to sit on his butt and have 25,000 posts is trying to argue about exercise.

one of the main reasons why the Wii has been so successful is due to games like Wii Sports / Play, etc...

Nintendo's doing what they should and expand on that
it's a business model that's working well for them

the Wii Fit game as a whole isn't really the key here
    it's the new Balance Board
which is sure to see games like Tony Hawk and SSX incorporate it

I find it funny you assume you know what I do with the other 23 hours of my day I am not on this.

That is all well and good, but it shouldn't be seen as any kind of substitute for fitness.

    see that's the thing
it's not marketed as "throw away your gym membership, never go for a walk again, forget about those clunky dumbells - your Wii Fit is here !!"
you just come running out of the gate assuming that's the big picture

bottom line, it's still better that you have interactive entertainment that requires some form of physical movement, as opposed to sitting on your butt for hours on end

the only thing I really agree with here is that's it's a damn game
all the rest of it is out of left field banter
yes, kids go outside .... they'll still go outside
like any self-respecting kid is gonna play this thing anyway :ha:

like I said, it's target is likely familys / partyers and newcomers
not little Johnny who's library consists of Mario, Metroid and Madden

this is another one of those examples where you have very little knowledge of a subject ,yet speak as if you're an expert
what do you know (for certainty) about this product ? have you seen one in real life ? read a couple of dozen reviews? played it yourself on a recent vacation to Japan ?

My point is that people may see this game called WiiFit and think 'hmm this will do for my daily fitness' instead of whatever they usually do. And spend 30 minutes on this game and another 3 hours on Mario Galaxy instead of being outdoors for an hour and a bit and playing Mario Galaxy for an hour and a bit.

And I am outdoors for about 10 hours a day, coffee pot.

And I wouldn't be saying much mr PS3, 360 and Wii. Where does all your time go after your time on GoTitans I wonder.
