The commish of the SEC absolutely tried to get talk of some form of playoff with the other leagues. No reason to dispute that. Are the other conferences "afraid" of playoff because of competition? Of course not. I think you might find any "fear" would be in sharing the pie or losing more of the pie, so to speak. The Midwest still has a huge amount of TV households and maybe they think they have to give that up. But of course, no one is afraid of playing other teams. Any talk of that is just "puffery" for fans. Honestly what has happened is the best thing for fans. If Bama beats LSU, then you have 3 teams that can come out there and have a beef about claiming a MNC. Hopefully that will make the outrage even higher. TV wants a playoff and fans want a playoff. I don't know if it is the school presidents that don't want it or the bowls that don't want it. I can't understand that. I mean will attendance be down for the Outback Bowl anymore than it is now? Will players miss any more class time than they are now with the big bowls being spread out more than a week now? I think we all want some kind of playoff, but instead spend time talking about how much one conference is better than another or how stupid a certain schools fans are, etc.
