We haven't had salary cap problems since Floyd Reese left. And those are favorable deals cause theyre their rookie deals, you wait til those guys' contracts run out, no bargains for those teams.

Here's the reason Stevens gets that much money, he was the only TE at the time worth signing. And he signed after the CBA was finalized, all vets now get a little extra money. Who would you prefer plays TE for us, Craig Stevens (monster blocker and good player) or Jeremy Shockey (a malcontent receiving TE)? cause thats all there was if we didn't keep Stevens.

I think thats how things play out this year.

We just dont need a FB, we have 2 TE's who often motion into the FB, why have QJ lock down a roster spot when we have so many better players this year....

You would make QJ very sad if he heard you talking about him. But seriously he is a good FB...however we could
    do without him.

Yea I have no problems with QJ's game, he's a reliable FB, but we don't need the extra baggage.

We already have too many WR's, and Loggains said he wants to keep 7 or 8 of them, that can't happen with QJ holding up a roster spot.

And we may also carry 4 TE's, how does that happen with QJ in the team?

Stevens concussion history is the only thing that scares me. He is one solid hit from being out for the year. I think he is a solid all around TE. He has good hands and is faster than people think. We all know he is a solid blocker. I have no problem with his current deal.

So let me get this straight. You were upset we got rid of some bad players like Amano $6m, Harris ~$3m, Finnegan $11m, and Jared Cook ~$9m, but you're upset about a solid player for us getting $2.5m. Sometimes I wonder about you man. Complete contradiction there.

To clarify Finnegan and Cook weren't bad, but totally not worth what they got paid.

I'd love to keep 7 WRs, but that is so many receivers to keep. I think they will budge and only keep 6. I'd love to be a fly on the wall on the WR cut decisions this year.

I have no idea why we pay that much for him or why people here love him so much. Could easily replace him for vet minimum with free agent.

I've actually been asking this question for a long time now. I remember when we offered him the contract, Stevens himself said he was shocked at the numbers.

Even the dude signing the contract didn't think he was worth that. C'mon... inexcusable to pay him more than $1mil a season. The contract in itself is the most absurd thing I've ever seen if he plays through it. 4 year/$15mil deal. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

There's no arguing that it was a horrible contract.
