There will be at least two significant changes in Indianapolis under Dungy's successor, Jim Caldwell.

So while we wait on official word of a new defensive coordinator and special teams coach, let's examine the rest of the staff. I'd like to hear from you on this, Colts fans:

Who's the team's best assistant coach?

I know two stalwarts of the offensive staff are the prime candidates here.

Offensive coordinator Tom Moore is an innovator who runs a system through Peyton Manning the likes of which we don't see anywhere else. Manning's ability to put the offense in the best play based on what he sees a defense doing all starts with Moore.

Offensive line coach Howard Mudd is going to be a popular choice, and he's an excellent coach who's not always been given premium talent. His line, however, had not always done its best work in the postseason.

Does defensive line coach John Teerlinck deserve a mention too, considering just how good Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis have been and how he's hardly had top-level interior talent?

Let me hear from you on this with comments here or notes to the mailbag. We'll circle back to the topic later in the week and name a "winner."
