    It may be too busy for a logo. Normally, logos are suppose to be simple - it's all about branding. Simple logo and you instantly know what it is. I personally think that logo is pretty awesome though.

    Definitely not bad, but still has the thumbtack in it. That needs to go.

    (And if it was to stay, it would need a navy outline in that logo.)

    And you're right, the best logo's generally are fairly basic in design.

    Nobody asked, but I'd ditch one of the swords and make the center shield navy with white or light blue stars. Maybe the shield stroke could be light blue..
