Yes, we should cut the cord. No one that dumb is walking away from a $100k/yr gig, he'll be in Austin til he dies or they get tired of him throwing pamphlets at peoples feet.

If that is actually his job description, that sounds like possibly the worst job for him they could find.

Unable to get an NFL job and unwilling to show what he can (or can’t) do in Canada, Vince Young finally has decided to hang it up. He’ll now return to the place from which he came.

The University of Texas has announced that Young will return to the school, with a job in its Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. He’ll become as of September 1 a development officer for program alumni relations. The job will entail helping to raise money that will support efforts to address the educational challenges of first-generation college students and students from low-income backgrounds.

The specific income Young will receive for his efforts isn’t known. A decade ago, he gave the school plenty and got no money in return.

The third overall pick in the 2006 draft, Young’s early career generated plenty of promise along with boasts of an eventual bust in the Hall of Fame. Instead, he eventually washed out of Tennessee and, in time, the rest of the league.
