Have to wonder how different things might've been if Fisher would've kept Volek and had never brought in Kerry Collins.

In my opinion Collins was a big reason we were held back for five years because he sucked and could not play QB.Had there never been any issues with Volek things might've been different especially if Volek managed to stay here and Collins is never brought in.After all Collins could never move the offense and we were always going three and out or suffering six game losing streaks due to Collins.Fisher enduring losing here the last couple seasons was mainly due to Collins being terrible at moving the offense.

Now if Collins never came here and Fisher never has a run in with Volek and keeps him i think things might've been a lot different for Fisher and this team. Some may not agree but i think Billy Volek could've been a much better QB than Kerry Collins here in Tennessee.Decisions like dropping Volek and bringing in a loser like Kerry Collins is why Fisher ultimately didn't make it here in Tennessee. The bottom line is Volek would've been a much better QB than Collins. As bad as Collins sucked year in and year out it makes you wonder what in the hell Fisher saw to keep Collins here for over five years when he was terrible and never moved the offense.

Every time there was a spark or we started to win it was when Fisher put Vince in to take Collins place.I think the main thing that led to Fisher's demise here in Tennessee was the terrible decision making process.Fisher made way too many mistakes. We lost two games i know of in 2010 due to special teams and there was a rookie who kept dropping kicks that cost us the Jets game. Also letting Lagarette Blount get away was another dumb mistake.Being overly loyal to certain veterans when the better player was having to sit on the bench.

It is good Fisher is gone because the game was passing him by and if he was still here we would not have drafted Locker and drafted defense. We would most likely have a third rate QB like Kyle Boller or McCown in here while still running the ball the majority of snaps and i think things would've gotten only worse had Fisher stayed.

The best thing to ever happen is Fisher leaving and us bringing in fresh leadership with newer ideas and a good future QB Jake Locker. We are revamping our offense away from Fisherball and moving in more of a passing offense.I think us passing the ball more will take some of the load from CJ and possibly extend his career. Most of the teams winning the last few years are clearly passing the ball the majority of snaps. For the first time in many years we look like we have a good crew of receivers and tight ends.We are going to be more of a passing offense and that is definitely good.Putting up points and passing the ball wins games in this league.

I agree with what you guys are saying with regards to Rusty 'putting in his all.' He's a good character kid and helps others with the playbook. His sample size is very small, so its would be very hard to judge him on his play time.

On a side note, I would be interested though to see if Volek can be a backup for us.

He's a FA now and has been for a while, which means he can be had for cheaper. Also, even when we didnt have a good offense or many weapons at the receiving position, he was still trying to stretch the field and generally played very well (again w/ limited playmakers + 'run first' Fish era mentality).

I really wish he was more mature when he was here, as if so, he woulda def started and more importantly we would have never had the wretched KFC era (that 13-3 year we had with him at the helm had nothing to do with KFC elevating our team).

People have their doubts about Billy (even me), but had he stayed here, IMO he would have been much better then both KFC and Matt H.

    ---

People might argue this post, but mainly its for the future.

I don't see Matt H with us after this year (especially at the price we signed him for). Jake (IMO) could be starting this year, but he definitely will be starting next year.

This means we need a capable back-up for a more affordable price. Billy could be that answer...

The annual salary difference between Matt and Billy's salary (~4M maybe or more) would easily help us resign players (think J-Mac) / get an impact DL man.

After this season i'm wondering if Hasselbeck will go to a quarterback needy team.He has played well enough for us after leaving Seattle that some team may pay him pretty good to be a starter for a couple seasons.
