Obviously VY saw the blitz coming since he threw the ball early to avoid it. By YOUR definition he 'picked up' the blitz. Given a free rusher coming at you, the QB decides where he's going with the ball and gets rid of it before getting sacked. As far as decision making...which is what a lot of people claim he's bad at...he did the right thing. He chose the right receiver (Stevens) with the best matchup and since he had less time than he should have, he lofted the ball for Stevens to run under it. If Hawkins runs the right route, the ball falls to the ground incomplete. There is nothing wrong with what he did. 3 other players made mistakes on the play which all contributed to the ball being picked off and yet you don't even acknowledge those mistakes, you wanna just blame the QB.

If Peyton Manning or Tom Brady had been QB-ing that play, the result is likely the same since they probably would have chosen the best matchup too and thrown it early to where that receiver was supposed to be. But I suspect you'd be blaming the RT for not blocking, the WR for not running the right route, and the TE for not getting past a DE rather than Hall of Fame QB's.
